Tiny Victories

I solved a scheduling dilemma in a way that makes camping weekend easier. Would you like me to talk about camping less? If so, you should replace me with a different friend for a few weeks

Talk about camping! It’s one of your joys. Do you ever take Percy camping?

Yeah, no, please talk about camping. Camping is lovely.

I had my annual health exam! Definitely been procrastinating on that one…

While making dinner i stabbed myself in the finger, but it was with a knife that was chopping garlic so the wound is sterile.

I got dinner started! (Which is the biggest hurdle for me—once I get it going I’m not just going to abandon the meal part way through). I’m making lentil tacos, which are only slightly more involved than boxed mac and cheese but much healthier.

When I lived in Mexico my friend stepped on a stingray in the ocean and got a wound in his foot. The Mexicans heated cloves of garlic over a flame and pressed the burning garlic into the sting. It cleaned the wound and sucked out the poison.

Gross but cool.

I found a $20 Costco card I got for getting the Costco Citi card - over a year ago. Perfect timing for the October Budget challenge (or is this “cheating”).

A friend gave me a big block of dark salted caramel chocolate, palm oil free :heart_eyes_cat:

Also, the demolition of my bin nook (a limestone structure in my front yard) looks perfect. It’s exactly what I wanted.

I wanted something sweet, but I didn’t have anything sweet. I rediscovered my poppy seed dressing salad and all is well in the world.

Also I somehow now think of a freaking kale and brussel sprout salad as dessert what is happening to me you guys hold me Tony Victor I’m scared.

I get to see Margaret Cho tonight. This is my first time going out in the evening for an entertainment event, without kids, in many months. Maybe over a year.

(I’m choosing to take this as a victory.) I woke up extremely early, as I’ve been doing lately. It allowed me to open up my apartment and get fresh air in, before traffic picks up. I love love fresh fall air, but the big downside of where we live is that we’re on a fairly busy street, so I really can’t do that during the daytime.

I fixed the elastic on a skirt I made last week and now it sits perfectly and is very comfortable. I am extra pleased because I was dreading shopping for skirts and dresses for summer, and now I’m confident I can make them myself.
