I was thinking that was a mean thing to say but then I saw the adorable Luigi.
Perfection. I need a hammock!
New (ish/to me/however you want to put it) car acquired, a few tweaks to do to get some features where I want them, but nothing major. And as much as I was thinking I’d prefer a hybrid, the math didn’t work out in the end.
(TC, emailing the other people I’d talked to to say no thanks and close the loop, and the number of ‘but maybe you could reconsider’ type responses I’m getting is annoying enough to make me think I should have left them hanging.)
“But maybe you could reconsider” … I BOUGHT SOMETHING ELSE, SO NO.
Ugh salespeople.
But congratulations on the car.
Were you debating between a hybrid versus an all electric or a gas car?
Being nosy because I see my having to replace my car in the futureish and I’m deciding what I’m wanting to want, if that makes sense?
For me it was between hybrid and gas. My main need for car transport involves going up into the mountains for skiing/biking/etc., and up there electric chargers are still few enough (and in some areas far enough between) that all electric was a nonstarter. Waiting for a hybrid probably would have been worth it if I did more driving locally or even between metro areas, but I just don’t.
ETA–Main reasoning for my choice was that once you get onto the highways gas engines are more efficient than the batteries hybrids carry (at least the ones I looked at), so hybrids will be a heavier version of a gas car anyway. I thought the changeover was all speed based, but apparently some are range-based instead, and some just have ‘assistive’ electric power which the salesguy didn’t do a real great job of explaining but seems to involve more performance tuning than anything else. And with the extra cost for a hybrid, if it’s going to spend most of the time burning gas anyway it’s not really worth that difference.
Thank you, this is helpful for my brain files!
i saw “avatar: the way of water” twice this week. the first and last hours are pretty explosiony but the middle hour is pure underwater vibes and i kinda want to live in it forever.
It’s been a rough day but I just made split pea soup in my InstantPot in 15 MINUTES. Sorcery. This thing is magical.
Can you make videos of learning how to use your instant pot? I just got one in December and we’re still not confident with it enough to be as loose with following recipes as I would with pan cooked or oven cooked recipes.
Did you sautee? It truly is a magical beast
@ElleP I did sauté!!! It was amazing.
That’s a great idea @meerkat because I’ve got to say, the InstantPot manual is one of the worst manuals I’ve ever read. And due to my past job I have read a lot of that type of documentation. I had to watch youtube videos to figure it out!
I would love this split pea recipe tooooo!
Omg yes thank you i am so glad you have an instant pot coz im right up the creek with meerkat
I look forward to the split pea soup video.
It’s not my recipe! But it was good
ETA: I should have mentioned that I’ve never eaten split pea soup before! I wasn’t even familiar with it- dh requested it! So I have no idea if this is authentic, etc, but it tastes good (if a little light on spices) to me!
We’ve been having thunder snow for the last hour or so. Not sure it’s a victory, but it’s wild. The snow can actually knock it off anytime though, there’s almost no visibility. Also, I have one dumb squirrel at my suet feeder, everything else is hiding as they should be. Lol.
I bought produce and had a nice salad for brunch!
On Friday I decided to split the difference and put half the remaining money into RRSPs, and it arrived in Questrade today, so it squeaked in under the contribution deadline for 2022.
And we’ll figure out on Wednesday (when we pull other numbers) where it should actually get invested. (And hopefully I get paid quickly on my last invoice so that I don’t need to futz about with moving money from EQ to pay the credit card bill)
My boss closed us at 3 because we didn’t have phone or internet.
FALAFEL!!!
(And I don’t have to cook it!)
Win#2 - I also managed to cook enough for lunches for the week. Again. Did not smash anything this time so can actually eat the food.
