expensive medical tests are really expensive and I hates it. And how can you have “good” health insurance that you pay a lot for but still owe SO much money for medical bills.
I started a new book (“Temeraire” by Naomi Novik), was just getting into it, and… it has disappeared. I fear into some packing box to be found in 5 years. Also, in a very rare turn of events, I don’t have books with me that are next on the to-read pile, as I made a goal to read down my backlog before moving (I have got the next one ordered though so they’ll be here soon!)
I hope you find it sooner rather than later, I liked that series quite a bit!
I have a bad headache, and it’s my day off when I want to Get Shit Done.
Someone tell me it’s not covid?
It’s not covid
Oh no! I’m noticing her name a lot around here and enjoyed the one book I read recently. I hope you find it soon!
We read Spinning Silver (on someone here’s recommendation) in book club, but someone on ebay was selling two of her books as a bundle so I ended up with both! So far, I don’t love Temeraire as much as Spinning Silver, but it’s still very readable (or, it was… )
NOOOOO, I got the dreaded “package is being held at the post office at customer request” message on USPS tracking.
- I did not request this.
- This is the latest thing the PO in our zip code is doing. Used to be scanning it as delivered days before they delivered it. Now it’s this message.
- I know from reading the neighborhood Facebook groups that this is why the line at the post office is always out the door (and not socially distanced, the building’s small), and also that going there to get the package will result in being told the package is not there but at the “hub” and that the hub is so full of covid that they can’t check.
I mean, at least I’m grateful for these neighborhood groups where I can get intel on what’s actually going on and what to expect? Someone down the street from me said they got a “held at PO” message and it showed up at her building 4 days later.
Have you read Uprooted? That is my favorite Naomi Novik book so far (including Temeraire), and it’s standalone, which is sometimes exactly what I want.
I liked Unrooted the most too! Spinning Silver was good, but the relationship didn’t make sense to me.
The first Temeraire book was ok but I stopped reading half way through the second. I’m just not into war themed historical fiction feat. dragons.
The other two are on my top 10 list for books I’ve read this year.
I accepted a person’s Linkedin connection request, and they are all “I dont even think my resume was opened. I I think it will be very tough to be interviewed without a referral.” Which is not a way to make a positive impression on me when my team has spent the last 3 weeks reading resumes and doing interviews on top of their other work. And I don’t think one of the offers we gave was to someone who was a referral.
The last thing we need is an intern who doesn’t think they have anything left to learn.
I cannot work out if I took my medicine or if I just thought about it/half dreams it as I was waking up. Gah.
No, not yet! It’s on my list though
In Tiny victory news, I found temeraire! R offered me one of her books, half joking that if nothing else the rules of fate meant I’d find it as soon as I started- and true to form it turned up 5 mins later
Call them and ask if there are any specials (or look online and ask them to apply to your account). I used to have on my calendar every year to call them and ask them to lower my rate! Play the “loyal customer” card and they will usually lower the rate-- but they make you work for it with a super annoying phone call…
Already did, but thank you. The complaint was just that it happened. We’ve done this dance many, many a time lol.
Just reminded me to go look in my account and my “promotional rate” was going to expire in January… set up a new (exactly the same) promotional deal online and hopefully that extends the price for another year! Stupid jerks trying to take advantage!
ISPs should be regulated like utilities already…
Oh yes, this needs to be a thing. I’m in the middle of a multi-day outage because of “unexpectedly high internet usage” in it neighborhood/area. Y’know, in the ninth month of a pandemic. Mmhmm, sure.
Painkillers fixed pain but not nausea. I want to throw up less, please.
