Ugh. Forgot to account for thanksgiving craziness in the grocery pickup order I placed, so we can’t get it until Saturday. It’s fine, but normally you can get same day or first thing the next morning. I just didn’t even think about it.

Weird complaint: I keep hearing about all the states that hate Californians moving in. Like, I get it that it messes with housing costs and the balance of political culture and stuff, but are we all supposed to just stay here and struggle to scrape together enough to live because the rest of the country thinks we’re invaders? This is an irrational rant because I’m not leaving California, but it’s grating to feel unwelcome.

Every time our state gets redder and redder, the Californians I know tell me to move there.

(I know people in Austin, Tx have been complaining about transplants since the mid-80s. I used to be told to “go back home” when I was in elementary school. We moved from CT when I was 2.)

Motherfucking imaging center staff who didn’t give my Mom the disk with her MRI to take to her doctor. They just asked which doctor to send it to, said ‘okay’ and then we checked out and left. At no time did they tell her she needed a disk with her scan on it to take to her doctor herself. She didn’t find out until today when the doctor’s office told her she had to do that. WTF?!!
Now my mother is even more stressed out, in tears, feeling on the edge of a nervous breakdown from everything going on already and now this. What the fuckety fuck Universe?!

I mean, the technocrats have ruined my chances of buying something in jackson hole. But I think most of it is a “Y’ain’t from 'round here are ya?” feeling. I was super not welcome in CA when I moved there, so I can imagine the culture clash goes the other way too.

It is definitely a “y’ain’t from round here” thing. I’m sad you had that problem in CA, though, I found my experience here super welcoming. (Then again, grad school is a particular beastie.)

I do wonder how much of my experience in not-California mimics what other non-cali folks saw. In the areas I lived in, everyone assumed all Califorinian’s were rich (sort of how in this neck of the woods people assume anyone from new england is old money)
And my wife lived near where you are for a while and people were super nice. I think once you get further north people chill out. So Cal wasn’t nearly as cool as the folks in the more northern parts.

Currently watching Vox Machina on Critical Role again, already rewatched some of the midwest guy I recommended and also some “Dad How Do I” which is a pretty cool channel actually.
Can’t flip over to my personal computer because Kiddo is in the room and will be all up in my grill if he thinks I’m done with work. (Spoiler: I’ve done about … five? ten? minutes of work all day)

Around here, much of the ire seems to be focused on different driving styles. Minnesotans and Californians get most of the rage from what I’ve seen.
