Something has upset my digestion the last two days and now I’m sure I’ve got that parasite that’s in the news and I’ll die from eating all those raw vegetables….
OK SAME
The baby room lead teacher is moving to the new location in a leadership role. Good for her, sad for Ziti
My coworker actually has this! He has been spending lots of time in the bathroom for a couple of weeks now and just got a prescription and had to delay a knee surgery because he has it. He also lost 10 pounds the unpleasant way.
My answer is that a bagel never gave anyone a parasite. Healthy eating can be dangerous. ![]()
41 to almost 44c. And there’s going to be heat advisories the next two days too.
If anyone needs me I’ll be looking at real estate listings on the sun for cooler temperatures.
This summer is gonna be a tough one. (Already is)
Ughhhh. I should probably toss out this TJ’s bagged salad then, shouldn’t I.
Though there aren’t many cases down here yet.
Dammit! I really like their salad!
Anyone know if it’s just fresh produce or frozen as well? BOY would it be nice if our government hadn’t defunded food safety testing!!!
They keep saying “imported produce” but I’m not eating anything imported this time of year. And I read that frozen is better than fresh but not completely safe.
I feel okay so far today so maybe I’m not dying.
I didn’t see this recall?
It’s not a recall but there are news stories about the explosive diarrhea parasite that no one’s quite sure how people are getting it. But bagged salad is a suspected cause, as are raspberries (a favorite food of mine) and some fresh herbs (which, I grow my own so all good there - they are all still alive and producing.)
My take on is that I am a vegetable fiend and we don’t know enough details about the source yet for me to like…stop eating vegetables or change up my diet. I’ll take my chances.
My coworker said his doctor told him it can take a few weeks to start affecting you so you really can’t know what caused it. He feels better after one day on an antibiotic.
Yeah it’s also like…an indefinite amount of time to hold off on an important healthy diet component. I will take my chances as well
We have an IRL friend who is an infectious disease doctor, and she says this outbreak is… odd. It’s big and it has spread unusually fast. She says “Keep an eye on it.”
I have so many performances coming up though, I cannot dance while having explosive diarrhea! ![]()
They say if you cook the produce it is ok. So maybe I just skip the salads and raw fruit?
Right? And during summer when salads sound great!
Does this remind anyone else of the first Batman movie when the Joker puts chemicals that kill you in beauty products but no one knows which ones? ![]()
The health benefits of salad and fruit for me personally outweigh the still incredibly small risk of the parasite. Especially since if it happens to you and you recognize/treat it fast it should be brief.
But others might have a lower risk tolerance!
Ew.
