Tiny Complaints

it does help me sometimes to think ‘if I click on this thing, the algorithm will show me more, do I really want that?’, and then I make the right decision and don’t click on the thing that I know is mostly there to outrage me

95% of my private browser usage right there. Not for outrage but for researching a particular item I don’t want advertised to me for months.

Yep. I research things for writing, and depending on genre the amount of stuff I don’t want coming back to haunt me…

I did some research about 5 years ago, and was surprised by the number of parents who were trying to keep their feeds personal, but couldn’t help but having them ‘ruined’ with contamination from children’s interests (I’m pretty sure ruined is a direct quote, but it is 5 years, so I could very easily be incorrect)

I totally dealt with this when I was funneled a lot of cerebal palsy kid content with tiny nephew diagnosis which then the Internet parlayed into all disabled children and sick children exploitative content.

It sucks. I dealt by mostly not using IG anymore.

Apparently on Instagram you can turn off suggested posts for 30 days at a time. It doesn’t get rid of the ads, but it does make it a hell of a lot easier to actually use the app without wanting to throw the entire internet into the ocean.

IG gives me adorable videos of baby animals of different species who are friends. I feel so good after scrolling. I recommend everyone guide their algorithm to this.

Yeah, IG is way worse than FB in this regard.

Two nights in a row spent in very smoky bars that mean I have to shower before even thinking about going to bed (I hate showering at night)

My complaint is actually a vicarious one. Right now there are some men working on my roof because we had a leak. Yes, the leak stinks, but it’s cold outside, and I really feel for the guys working out there. At least it’s not windy or rainy or anything else unpleasant. Anyway my complaint is about the cold on behalf of them.

I ruined a pan of fudge. I got new pans that apparently cook faster than my old ones and it seized up. So I made another batch and cooked it less time but I’m not sure it’s going to set up. :joy:There must be a happy medium in there somewhere so I’m going to try batch #3.

It really does!

Yum. I have been making a lot of apple crisp (in small individual ramekins) - it makes the house smell fantastic!

I bought 2 sizes of drawer organizers. One is too small and one is too big

one of my bras has gone missing. I thought it was in the handwash pile, but it is not. It is bright red, it isn’t the type of thing to be overlooked in our house.
