That’s a nice looking closet!

The universe (my menstrual cycle) dictated that today was pantry cleaning day.

I have regrets.

Haha just came here to post this

This lady showing exactly where I am in the organising/ decluttering cycle…

Also @pancakes that will be me sometime next week… We need to clear out the pantry and it will be exciting to see how long it takes us to put it all back.

Ours is maybe 75% back away. The last 25% I’d like to abandon but it’s the kitchen so I can’t.

Ah yes I know this regret. I hope you get through!

My organizer friend did more of my cupboards and we ended up swapping 2 of them. It looks so good! - and I have too much stuff.

Things are leaving my home more frequently and I’m starting to see piles CLEAR instead of grow!!

Yay

Too bad I didn’t take a before photo. It was bad. Especially down the bottom where we’d had been hoarding soft plastics from before the recycling system here collapsed.

Very nice!

We’re talking ours apart tomorrow :confounded:

Ha ha I get that. Tidying does not come easily to me so when I get the urge - I have to use it!

I am midway on my pantry. Summer holidays are the best time for them, apparently. Stuck inside because of the heat, aircon running, snacking on the snackies that are in date and not quite used up (hellooooo single chocolate bar left in the pack)

All the out of date stuff. Whoops.

(They may be things you would eat despite out of date. I will not and there’s no point sticking them back in the pantry).

The most out of date thing was BBD 2018. I thought I emptied the pantry in 2019 so it must’ve been missed.

I definitely have something in my pantry that was best by 2018, but it is dried bay leaves so I just use more than the recipe calls for.

At my parents house I once found a jar of Vaseline that had expired the year before they bought the house. So either they bought it when it was already expired, or they moved it when it was already expired. And by the time I found it, it was some 10 years out of date.

I reorganized the beans/grains/vinegars shelves and now I can FIND things.

Haha the vaseline story is relatable

Anyway. Not got the tubs all cleaned and put in, but turns out throwing away 20% of the contents makes it really nice.

Now I just need to do that in the rest of the house.

How does Vaseline expire? What’s gonna happen to it? This strikes me similarly to the 3000yo Himalayan rock salt expiring.

PS I am ready to be proven wrong that Vaseline can expire. But it is not readily apparent to me…

I think you could mount an argument for it having been open and used for too long and risk infection depending on where you were using it.

I wouldn’t bother with it. I have a vaseline that’s able to vote, I’m sure.
