Haha when you put it like that it makes 0 sense.
I don’t actually have enough clothing without holes to get through the week and (excuse excuse) I’ve found it difficult to replace them in the past couple of years
I just wear them with holes

So maybe take the ones with holes out of your wardrobe, and put them next to your computer. And then go online shopping to replace them. Or, take them out, photograph them all, and use them to guide you when you’re shopping in person. If they’re not in regular rotation, then you’ll be forced into replacing them. As somebody who has a hard time replacing clothing, and my husband regularly has to intervene and make me get rid of stuff, trust me when I say that I understand what you’re going through. For myself, I have to make it painful enough and Urgent enough that I actually follow through.
And I say this is somebody currently wearing underwear with holes, that I already have bought replacements for, but I haven’t thrown them out yet. And my husband will probably intervene now that he’s heard me admit this through voice to text.
Ah yes there we go. The eyebrow
Can you darn or patch the holes?
I don’t think it is worth it. I did take out a bunch of things to put in a repair basket which are worthy of repair but these shirts have holes at my belly button (why does that happen) and have been worn very thin at the shoulders from baby carrier use.
A few are good to wear to bed because they are so comfy and worn in but that many?
This year I don’t have two kids home 24/7 and maybe the pandemic will ease? In the two days Pikelet has been at school I have managed to tick off more of my todo list than the previous two years (pregnant, newborn, pandemic, etc) so I think I can manage this now!
Haha yes this is me.
Though my partner is the same and hence we wait until there is a critical mass in the wardrobe and spend a few days clearing it out. Except that isn’t as easy now with the small ones.
I did throw out my underwear with holes today even though a little voice kept saying “just fold it up and put it back”
I had to start throwing my underwear out as I took it off while changing, because otherwise I’d wash it, forget that I meant to throw it out, put it away, put them on, think “eh this is ok for one day, I’ll throw them out next time” and then repeat the whole cycle
For me it was wearing a belt regularly and leaning up against my desk or counter tops, the fabric just got worn from all the times I leaned and it got sandwiched.
I have done this so many times. It’s a lot harder with stuff I want to donate, because I need to wash it first!
One of my favorite T-shirts is a freebie from a volunteer event. It is so so soft. It has an obnoxious hole in the under arm, and it’s not the least bit cute, but it fits just right and is so comfy. I ordered some replacement shirts in the same brand and in cuter colors, but the cut is all wrong in the fabric isn’t soft at all. I totally get hanging onto clothing for too long because of inertia and also difficulty in finding replacements that are as wonderful as the originals!
I got over “get rid of this perfectly good clothing with holes” by signing up to upparel to send them a box of clothing to be recycled. It cost me $25 to rid myself of 10kg of guilt.
Husboo will write down fabric blend % in a quest for softer shirts. It works!
I have a pile of empty plastic boxes. They are taking up valuable space in my dining area and stop me accessing my backyard and mini freezer. Tomorrow I am looking after Pumpkin, so I am also going to sort out what these will be used for, or find them a new home elsewhere. I will also try to unfuck some other areas.
I’m thinking next week there should be a bunch of sales if you need to get replacements?
Is this the motivation thread? Ok. I am going to tidy up by:
in that order. Just as soon as this baby goes down.
What is next week?
Feb 14. it feels like underwear should go on sale
I threw out stuff! Go me!
I cleaned out the kitchen utensil drawer today and now it opens and closes easily and I won’t have to hunt for what I need. There were at least a dozen things in there (like a potato dicer and egg slicer) that I never used and just got in the way. I also cleaned out a shelf of table cloths and put about half in the goodwill basket. I’m trying to gently get rid of (donate) things we just don’t use. It seems to be easier doing a little bit here and there rather than looking at it as this huge project.
I see it as an ongoing project. In our phase of life there is always more coming in, and I’m wearing stuff out, so we are always filtering things out as well. Sometimes my focus is one area, but it helps to always have a donation box available.
It also helps to normalize decluttering as a party of life instead of an invasion.
