The Not Pregnant...Yet Thread

Summary

I think it really depends on how restricted the eating window is. Something like a 14/10 worries me a lot less than when women want to try a 20/4 or something. I’m not positive if the IVF would override it adequately or not- there’s a lot we don’t understand about achieving uterine lining thickness, for example. It’s not as easy as more supplemental estrogen = thick enough. So for extreme windows I would worry more in women. Especially if caloric restrictions or sleep disturbances happened as a result. Also, I’m pretty sure major IF increases cortisol transiently right? I can theorize how that could interfere with implantation.

So in short- my knee jerk is that a 10 hour window is mild enough it’s probably worth a try so long as you don’t have symptoms like poor sleep from it, or electrolyte imbalances, or low energy. But more extreme windows I would be a lot more worried about in women especially TTC.

Yeah, I can’t imagine how anyone gets enough to eat trying to squeeze it into only four hours per day! I would be wasting away!

Calories

Not so worried about caloric restriction, as my Fitbit seems to think I only burn like 1500 calories unless I go for a run, and I’d be shocked if what I was eating was more than a couple hundred calories less than that even on a light day. I’m not really thinking of eating much less, just in a shorter window.

Summary

That’s one of my issues interpreting data on intermittent fasting, is the different studies use either just shortening the windows, or shortening eating windows combined with caloric restriction. It makes it really hard to tease everything out. Not to mention a ton of the studies being done in adult male athletes, which obviously makes the hormonal effects really hidden.

Although, that looks like it’s a weeklong fast instead of intermittently. Still, would be interesting to see!

@wooljaguar, @Bracken_Joy could we spoiler more of the IF science more thoroughly? :two_hearts:

I actually can’t on my phone right now. The highlighting prevents me from using the feature. I’ll try to fix it later if I can get to my desktop. Sorry.

I’m taking progesterone supplements because my progesterone is low. My doc was concerned that I would likely not get very far even if I did get a good fertilized egg that implanted because of my levels being too low.

It seems based on what I heard from the description when I called the pharmacy to check on the status that they are 100 mg capsules or something? I assume they would say suppositories if they were supposed to go in my vagina.

I think they will be swallow type tablets. My pharmacist was pretty clear about my vaginal suppositories and they were clearly HUGE. Swallow ones should be tiny. Mine were also the same dose as yours, or maybe 200mg.

IF personal experiences, tw calories, restriction, lbs #s

So I’ve done an array of IF, from the low key 14:10 to 16:8 to 24:4, and I’ve done alternate day fasting. It really works to help me lose weight where other stuff hasn’t, and I think because I cook and eat out on the pretty high calorie side, I still get plenty of calories overall and lose anywhere from .5-2 lbs per week.

I think for me the trouble is that I have trouble getting in enough healthy foods with such a narrow eating window. If I’m going to get 3000 calories within a day, or 1500-2000 within four hours, I’m going to get far too full if I’m eating vegetables.

It does seem to help with my blood sugar a fair amount. I got blood test while doing ADF, and my usual is a bit high at around 108 I think? And it was within normal during adf.

Anyway I’m doing much more casual 16:8 before ovulation and 14:10 after right now. I can’t exactly fast more than that anyway now that I’m taking metformin and have to have it with meals.

That sounds likely. I’m also doing 100mg the first 14 days of my cycle and 200 the second half until CD1.

I believe that, at least in the US, there are medium-sized pills that are sometimes swallowed and sometimes taken vaginally. I think they must be a lower dose than the suppositories. I have also heard of people taking estrace vaginally, and those are pretty tiny.

Did they give you metformin 3x/day? Protip: ask about extended release.

Yep, 3x/day. She’s having me do 1x a day to start and then gradually increasing so I don’t have as much stomach upset.

All right, I have my progesterone, my metformin, and all my many supplements for my body being incapable of maintaining adequate levels of vitamins.

CD1 should be here any time.

Can we please manage to make a baby this cycle?

When I got my IUD out my doctor said have fun. ARE WE HAVING FUN YET?

I am very confused.

I assumed I had completely skipped ovulating last month and started a new cycle at what seemed like the right time based on expected dates… And then got a very ovulation like (for me) temp rise? May just be a spike. I don’t know.:face_with_raised_eyebrow:
