Hey folks - I’m looking for a source that would be up for a 10 minute zoom interview today.
I need someone with a kiddo (or themselves) with a severe allergy who carries a rescue epinephrine injector. This is for a national radio piece on talking epinephrine injectors. You don’t have to have experience with the talking ones (Auvi-Q), but being someone who carries an epipen is important.
I would likely use about 10-15 seconds of audio from you, but it will give it a more human feel than just the talking heads I interviewed.
I don’t need to use names for any kids, per our sourcing guidelines.
Feel free to DM if you have questions.

We have Auvi-Q for Chickadee but have never had to use it/I don’t think her allergy qualifies as truly severe? So probably not who you’re looking for, but hit me up if you need me in a pinch.
I didn’t realize it talks o.o wut

I think if you have been issued an Auvi-Q by your provider/insurer it is severe! - Anything that can cause anaphylaxis is severe.
Take the outer cap off and you can hear it talk! (You can replace it if you’re not using it.) I’m surprised they didn’t train you at all when they gave it to you!
I might give you a DM here in the next 2 hours if the other leads don’t pan out! thank you!

They had a demo one they showed us how to use but it definitely didn’t talk lol.
Honestly, I’m really glad you said this, because if I had to use it and it started talking at me that would have been really stressful.

The talking is supposed to be calming! It’s supposed to help in stressful situations because it tells you what to do. ha.

I think that would probably be calming now that I know it will happen! Totally makes sense, love the idea of having useful instructions in the moment.
Generally, though, random voices talking to me when I’m stressed is not calming for me haha

hahah fair. It’s similar to an AED device, meant to walk you through it.

It’s very sensible! I definitely spend a non-zero amount of time reviewing the Auvi-Q instructions, tbh, so the idea of more backup is soothing.
