Small space living suggestions needed

Could you consider renting tables and chairs when you need them? I considered it once and it was more affordable than I expected.

But I’ve also found my friends/ guests are more than happy to bring along a card table (it’s a casual small space over here) and folding chairs. So in the end i didn’t need to rent.

I also looked into the transformer table and heard bad things about quality v price

We’ve had a folding conference table for years that worked great when we needed to pull it out. But we also have always had enough storage space like a garage where we could put it. I’ve also thought about the idea of a 4’x 8’ piece of plywood that could be placed on a smaller table to extend the top with some frame on the bottom to make it stable. Then it could be stored under a bed or behind a couch or something.

Need some decorating opinions. My style is bright, colorful, playful. The walls are white, the floor is brown carpet. Small space but vaulted ceilings. My plan is these curtains (ignore the bedspread in front of them).

This “mallard green” leather couch.

I’m thinking a rug on top of the carpet (Cuz Daisy June Dagger Paws). My favs are

And I’m thinking a tapestry above the couch. These are 2 I like.

Opinions? Obviously doing this on a serious budget and these are all very low priced. The tapestry I would hang on a wood dowel to make it a touch less college dorm room. They are both 90”x 60” and the rugs are 9’x12’.

I think the tapestry plus rug might be a little busy/loud, but also that is personal preference talking. I’d look into a more neutral rug

I could also go neutral with the tapestry. Here are some examples I like.

Personally I like the brighter tapestries but would probably go with a solid rug, maybe trying to match/come close to one of the blues or purples (although probably not green since you’ve got a green couch).

This is real hard, because of personal preference! Question: do you anticipate the curtains being open most of the time, or closed? If open, then they are more like a splash of color but if closed they are COLOR on that wall. To me this would make a difference in choices on other accessories.

Also, are you going for tapestry because it is lower priced or because you are trying to balance out the curtains (in scale)?

i would probably get in there with the items you already have (the curtains and the couch i think?) and then see what the room wants or needs. sometimes you buy stuff ahead of time and it ends up not being quite right after you live there for a while.

the tapestry is probably the item most likely to be something you feel different about once you’re in the space.

I absolutely love the tree on the left with the white background and all the birds!

for the carpet - think about whether it makes sense to have that strong central medallion, or if the space would appreciate more flexibility (the carpet on the far left)

Our room we had to return a couple of carpets until I realized the problem was that the layout wasn’t symmetrical enough for the options we’d purchased

Tapestry demure left tree or first vibrant tapestry
Top left or bottom right rug

More is more!

I love the suggestions and I also love the bright blue birds on the bottom too!

I order to make my choices I had to order multiple, see it in the room for scale, and return.

I’m attracted to the tapestry idea bc it is large and very inexpensive. And fast and easy. I mean, they may look horrible and cheap, I don’t know yet.

I don’t want an undecorated house. My current house is barely decorated bc I didn’t want to spend money, I didn’t know what to do, Stingray disliked everything, she was mad if I put a hole in the wall hanging a painting, etc. I’m just tired of not being able to do what I want to my house. I’m tired of being stymied! And since I’m stuck here for now it’s fun to plan my decor.

How long will you be in the condo? Would painting or (maybe) even getting flooring changed be an investment in the space? Do you have a carpet washer to keep up on cleaning it?

I do love the oranges in the options with the dark green couch

No idea how long I will be there. I’m in the process of getting a divorce right now so everything is up in the air. My goal is to do this all as inexpensively as possible, but still have fun. At this point I don’t have a job. And the condo is $65K - nothing I do to improve the condo is going to pay off financially.
I would prefer no carpet, but I am on the second floor and I also understand that will make me louder for the people on the first floor. I certainly don’t need a rug. I was thinking about it as a way to protect the carpet, but maybe that is a waste of money.

My sister got a colorful rug to put over carpet and then when stuff spilled on the rug, it bled onto the carpet so it literally ruined the carpet instead of protecting it

If you want to delay the rug, I approve because you seem on the fence about the rug. I will be mad at you and judge you if you listen to others instead of buying the most wonderful makes your heart sing tapestry. Tapestries are glorious and I love them. Why let the internet squash you after stingray also tried to make you live in a boring space?

My most powerful post divorce/during divorce decorating move was amazing maximilast hideous shiny purple bedazzled curtains with a fringe. No one would ever have let me buy them.

Also I should take a pic of my current tasteful maximalist curtains. Which I match with many many patterns in my bedding. And current partner has given up on the bedroom representing him (actually I got him a single sage green pillowcase). Also downstairs bathroom is getting there. In conclusion make the space FUN

I do me - I hadn’t thought of that! Oh no!
Elle - okay. I’m doing it! I ordered the huge peacock on the orange background and if I hate it, I’m out $14.

I also spent $10 on Capiz shells to see if I can handcraft a capiz shell chandelier to fit over the current nipple light. If not, out $10. But it will be fun.
