I use cold cream as my cleanser.

CeraVe foaming is my ride or die. It’s not thrilling but damn if it does the thing. They’ve got a more hydrating /mild version but I always felt like it wasn’t really cleaning as much as I needed, but was very hydrating.

Get a sample! That’s how skinfix got me. If it takes 10 $15 brands of cleanser to find a good one, but the expensive ones are amazing then watch me justify the probiotics and ethics in my skincare.

Yes, that’s the one.

And to be clear, Cetaphil is good for sensitive skin, just not my particular sensitive skin.

I am amazed you don’t find this drying. I can feel my face skin getting all tight just thinking about it! (I do think Dove is nice for a soap, it has some moisturizers in it, but it’s still a soap. Which feels entirely different to my skin that a non-detergent cleanser.)

@mountainmustache29 Perhaps your skin would appreciate the cold cream/cleansing balm route rather than a cleanser? Dry climate plus daily retinol probably has it pretty not-oily/greasy. I like Heimish All Clean Balm and I did not like the Banila Clean It Zero. It irritated my eyes.

I use a cleansing balm right now, Clinique Take The Day Off, and I love it! But sadly if I don’t use a cleanser after, I find I break out/get more oily, and don’t feel like my face is all the way clean

Dove is actually a detergent bar! Not soap.

It does not in any way affect how you feel about it, but I am very particular about soap vs detergent.

Today I learned…

I would still find it drying on my face, personally.

Ok everyone I am back again. Is there a basecoat you like or does it not matter?

(The polish I bought was essie but that doesn’t mean I won’t also get something else.)

(I want it to last longer since it is such a struggle for me to motivate myself to do anything at all…)

I’ve used OPI and Essie base coats and both have worked well for me.

Cool! There’s a decent chance the local pharmacy will have some, since they had both those brands (and not a lot else, it was so weird).

It’s been a month and some of the toner has faded off my whites which makes me extremely happy. I still don’t like the overall color or the whole highlight thing because it’s much too yellow and too light. The overall base color she used isn’t even close to my darkest color in the back and underneath. My coworker who is the former hairdresser said that what I have now will grow out much better than the red line I had so I’m using that as the only good thing about it all. I still haven’t decided what I’m going to do going forward or looked around for a new hairdresser. I’m scheduled for a haircut in a couple of weeks so I should figure it out soon.

This looks a lot better but very far from the colour you want. IDK if purple shampoo for greys will help or just waiting.

I realized this week that I now have time to do my morning skincare before I go running. I used to run with my son and he liked an earlier start, but now I have only myself to please. Seems more appropriate to have a fully protected face, especially now that it is cold!

I also started washing my face in the morning with CLEANSER when I have dne retinol the night before. I hate it. Seems probably important though. (I was just wiping with a wet washcloth.)

Seconding @ElleP - get some good quality purple shampoo to tone that yellowing out. Shimmering lights can do it.

Ok, one of my teens has terrible acne, to the point where we have a prescription cream.

The other has terrible blackheads on the face, but… Not to the point of prescription.

Tonight we had Family Facial Night including an enzyme mask, that smelled like plums. My children were not amused.

Any suggestions for skin treatment, for teen boys? That isn’t too femmy?

The ordinary is very affordable and very neutral packaging. Also unscented. I think they have quizzes to help figure out a routine. Like I know retinol and niacinimide are suggested for adult acne and retinol is a cousin with teen acne meds (baby cousin).

Historically they do a big online sale for November except for black Friday when they close.

Highly recommend getting a few extra sets of pillowcases and swapping them out more often. That has helped my (largely hormonal) acne more than most products

The simple face washes are best—Cetaphil or Ceravé. Both also have lotions with sunscreen as well if you want to keep it simple

Seconding The Ordinary for low cost treatments

Yes this is what they have for everyday (whether they use them or not… Teens man).

Good call on the pillowcases
