I’ve got that! I enjoy it the ritual of it. That being said, I don’t know if the product is superior to regular tube mascara as a cosmetic. It goes on nicely with the tiny brush they send. Not as thick as tube mascara, so it takes a little layering (if you try to make it very thick, it will clump). It lasts pretty well on my lashes, even in Seattle mists. I’ve tried it as an eyeliner and will not do that in the future – it just doesn’t last for me.

I may stick with it, because I like the reduction in plastic and the ingredients are chill. But it’s not An Obvious Win for me. (Their lipsticks, on the other hand? Last really well and feel nice and they SMELL LIKE VANILLA.)

It does make me feel like a fancy 1940s starlet, so there is that.

We don’t talk enough about becoming 1940s starlets and how important it is!

@Allhat has alerted me as to how important an atomizer will be for my new vanity

I stand by that!

I don’t know where to get an atomizer, but I have been watching people restore vintage compacts on TikTok so I’m ready to assist with this revolution.

Hi, can you tell me what EWG is/ post a link?

Wait, it’s OK, internet search solved it. Wasn’t sure if I’d find it.

Yeah! For others, this is The Environmental Working Group, which has a cosmetics toxicity database. I’ve found it useful when looking up cosmetics ingredients. (I imagine @Bracken_Joy and @Elle may also know some good databases for this? especially for cosmetics ingredients.)

Unfortunately it’s the best database I know. Use it to assess the individual ingredients, rather than looking at their total score- it seems a bit pay to play. As far as the overall score goes. But you can look at how did breakdown the individual ingredients.

Can we chat makeup here? Because I pared down my makeup and I want to brag and also peek at what you have. Show me your makeup!!!

Top row is eyes, silver tube at the end of the row is concealer. Bottom row is lips! I don’t have foundation right now.

Are the bobby brown liners or crayons? The shades are divine

They’re shadow crayons and they’re amazing! I love her colors. I also really like her color correction concealer and stick foundation but mine were super old so I tossed them, may end up replacing!

I don’t use makeup besides nail polish but I love how fancy they look! That layout just looks so luxurious.

Inspired me to toss some old lipsticks. I don’t wear them much anymore and they’re all just old revlon colors I can buy again if I miss them. Could likely do another pass in a month or so.

Toss:

End:

Everything fits better in the basket and cup now, but I would love to get down to just the basket and maybe migrate brushes to the cup? I don’t really love the zippered case my brush set came in but it is nice for travel/keeping them clean between uses.

Uhhh… can you tell I rarely wear makeup? :joy:

These were both acquired before I started dating Marmalade, so at least 13 years ago. I remember this because the lipstick was free at the Clinique counter in NYC. I think I got the eye makeup when I lived in California. I left in 2005. I thought I also had a little pot of Stila green eyeliner paste that you apply with a brush, but it’s gone so I probably threw it out. Last time I used it, it had dried up and shrank in the container. Also, the foam side of the brush in the picture disintegrated just now from my handling it

So, uh, do I need to throw out this lipstick? Please tell me the eyeshadow is still good!
