Skincare

Help! I have very dry eyelid skin. The skin is also sensitive, and sometimes stings when I am washing my face. Tried to put some Vaseline on there and it didn’t make things worse, but also didn’t make it better? What else can I try?

I’ll probably go to a dermatologist sometime in 2022 but cannot make it happen before then—no time!

Ignore if not helpful, but I’ve always found this an allergy thing for me. Cat exposure, becoming allergic to sunscreen or cleanser, or when I’ve been particularly sensitized to my food sensitivities. (Heloooo soy). If it’s good old fashioned winter dryness I don’t have any advice other than a humidifier at night

Oh boy it is prime allergy season. Could be a fun new symptom :frowning:

Avene. They do fancy gentle stuff

Ugh I realized it’s a blepharitis flare up. Probably due to a combo of allergy season and dry winter air. Ordered some more of those dumb scrubbies.

Anyone interested in posting a “shelfie” of their skincare/most or currently used products? I think I will later today. It gets me excited and inspired to use what I have if I can get everything looking pretty in my medicine cabinet lol. And I don’t have an instagram or anything so I will post it here

Ok here’s what I’ve got open at this moment. Note, this is not necessarily a recommendation for any of these things, I’ll add to this post about what I like/don’t like/will buy again etc. Would love to see what everyone else has going on! Not pictured: cleanser is in the shower right now, but I am working through a big Kale and Green Tea by YTTP. I probably won’t buy it again.

Lotsa Paula’s Choice. My old combo sunscreen moisturizer was from them, but they’ve either reformulated or discontinued the one I used to use, so I have two bottles of similar ones open rn in the middle of the bottom shelf. Blue bottle is closest to what I had before. White is fine…was hoping for more dramatic redness reduction but no luck. Won’t get that one again. I will forever stan getting the sample/travel size of the blemish treatment though. That is my spot treatment and it works great! Haven’t tried the exfoliant just yet but it is waiting in the wings!

Love the Great Barrier Relief serum–super hydrating and has never broken me out. Trying out the Typology stuff–not sure I need such a fancy Niacinamide when The Ordinary has a perfectly good one. The hazelnut oil has been fun, but may be breaking me out. Stay tuned lol. I use the TO’s peeling solution now and again when my face feels textured or just super grimy (if I am not showering due to Depression or something, it’s a nice clean slate vibe).

And of course the Kiehls is a classic. It’s an old jar, though, and might have a…smell? I can’t tell if that’s how it’s always smelled or if it’s going off or something. I don’t use much of it because it is so heavy feeling on the skin, but some people might like or need that? I certainly used more when I left my house every day in the Chicago winter but now my skin is spared from wind chap most of the time

Related: should I put some pretty contact paper on the back of this medicine cabinet? As a renter I usually forgo that kind of thing but it might be nice? Or maybe not worth it because it gets so humid in that room and would probably peel off or start looking cruddy quickly?

OH I should add that I don’t keep sunscreen in this cabinet. I have A LOT of sunscreen and it lives under the sink lol. In case anyone was worried. I’m very pale sooooo don’t worry I’ve got that covered.

Two pics for fun so you can see how I keep it stored and what everything is!

I am in the process of trying to streamline my skincare so I’ve been changing things up a lot lately (with the exception of the organ oil which is a must for me). I would not buy that cleansing foam ever again. I’m waiting for it to run out but I really don’t care for it, I feel like it’s still on my skin no matter how much water I get all over my bathroom floor trying to splash it off my face.

Argan oil is my go-to heavy moisturizer (and makeup remover) but I have very dry skin and hair. If you are combo or oily don’t try it because it will ruin you. I’ve been mixing the supercharge serum with the bakuchiol for am and pm base layer. I love the bakuchiol and will definitely buy the same one again. The serum I am not sure about, I was trying to replace a higher cost serum and I haven’t decided if I like this one as much. I like to use a whole bottle to really be sure, but if my skin quality doesn’t decrease by the time it’s done I’ll stick with it or try using only the bakuchiol. I kind of think that’s what’s getting me the results and that bottle is only $10!

The Ordinary…IDK. I bought it to try chemical exfoliation. I only use it once or twice a week because my skin is delicate and I can’t really tell if it’s doing anything. I’ll use the bottle and reassess when it’s gone. What do people think about it?

I love the x-foliate scrub and use that when I feel buildup, it washes off so clean. I also like the night cream and day cream. I’ve been using both of those for a while and will continue to. I like my sunscreen too! I have had a super hard time with sunscreens and I’ve tried all the korean and japanese brands and high end stuff and had such bad results. Before I was using this I was using Kiel’s which at least my skin could tolerate, but this is cheaper and it goes on way better! Highly recommend if you have dry and sensitive skin.

I also use honey and olive oil and avocado for masks, but I keep that stuff in the kitchen. I don’t do brown sugar scrubs anymore because I get such better results with the store bought scrub.

Haha. I am the same on argan oil and I also have had some good times with the cannacell line. I haven’t seen their sunscreen before. I’ll try that next
