If you’re a Duggar, feel free to talk about season 1. Season 2 is the interesting one to me though. Has anyone seen it? I’d love a fresh take.
Ooo I didn’t know Season 2 was out already, posting so I can remember to come back to this thread once I have time to get through it. I grew up very much in that world so I’m sure it will be an interesting watch
Interesting timing? If I believed in a higher power, I might say they had used you to guide me to this show just as my Amazon trial is expiring. I’m watching the first season now and it’s resonating in a way that no other Duggar expose has. I’m definitely binging all the available eps before the trial expires & I’ll come back with thoughts on season 2.
This is frickin scary. The closing line of ep 3? Gave me shivers.
I am almost done with season 2 and all I can think is “this is how we ended up with so many f’ing maga voters”
Pretty much. A calculated effort.
All i can say is, how dare they. Like, they are pure evil, but wearing the mantle of righteousness and religion and holiness. I know, its a tale as old as time, yadda yadda. But, like, that was more or less how I was raised. I guess I will never understand the appeal, and that is why I am the black sheep of the family. Not just Stepford wives, but Stepford husbands too (is that a thing), except for the very top few men.
The other thing I noticed was some of the same tactics were used at the “internships” as described in the book Stolen by Elizabeth Gilpin. This is a book about a “bad kid” who was sent away to paramilitary camp/school to straighten her out. Elizabeth’s book starts with two black-clad strangers waking her from a dead sleep at midnight & forcibly taking her from her home, since she was a flight risk. She was 15. All kinds of horrible things are done in the name of reform. And those very same tactics were used on these so-called “good kids” who are doing their religious internships! Not to punish them at all! WTF.
