How dare you address her royal majesty during her secret time of solitude out in the open in an occupied house. The affront! 
One of the mallards who frequents the water feature of my apartment complex. Apparently, early afternoon is grooming and napping time, as there are seven drakes out there now doing this.
This is a pretty poor photo, I will try to get better another day. This one is from my balcony and most of them were in shade.

I was so excited to learn that ducks live here in January when I moved in.

Again, poor photos, one through a window screen. Sadly my schedule is not aligned with the duck’s, and also they are shy.
First is mama with 7 or 8 babies. Second is a different mama with 3 little ones. No guarantee that the whole brood is in the photo, tho.
