I have discussed going in on a coverstitch machine with my mum and sister so that between us we can have All The Machines.
It’s so painful because I have a local friend with a serger. @__@;; If it weren’t COVID Times I could just visit her and use it…
But it is COVID times. And also I kinda just want one LOL.
Entry level sergers show up on Goodwill’s website every now and then for less than $100…just saying…
So what are y’all sewing this week?
I’m procrastinating on making quilt binding. Mostly because I have to measure things.
I FORGOT GOODWILL HAD A WEBSITE!!! Thanks
The library has one that SOMEBODY ELSE THREADS FOR YOU but of course it’s closed.
I am so painfully close to finally finishing the alterations on my new joggers. But the internet keeps distracting me in my free time.
That sounds magical.
I sewed some curtains for our gazebo to keep out the afternoon sun. It’s too hot to go hang them up.
Next up is finishing a quilt. I hear you on the quilt binding.
That darn internet. It keeps grabbing me, too…
It’s dooooone. This is my first full-sized quilt and my second ever quilting project. I made it queen-sized in case I ever get a bigger bed.
I finished binding it yesterday and slept under it last night. Can confirm, is cozy.
If we have any quilters here I’d love to hear your thoughts on choosing batting…I ended up with a very low-loft batting, which is fine for this project, but I have no idea how to pick batting online.
It’s beautiful!!!
Stunning
thank you both!!
The colours are fantastic! I’m a big fan of making quilts slightly oversized for extra comfort.
I just use the one kind of batting available in our biggest chain craft stores. I have used a piece of calico as the batting for a really nice baby quilt or summer weight quilt.
Absolutely fantastic. What a talent you have!
I thought followers of this thread would appreciate the stunning designs in here. I’d seen The Dress on IG but hadn’t seen a close up until this article. Our First Nations were included in our Fashion Week this year.
PSA / enabler alert… RAD patterns is having a 60% off sale. Promo code DYSTOPIA60.
I’m excited to try them out, especially their leggings & bra patterns - they have quiet a variety of styles and pattern test photos from sewists with a variety of body shapes/sizes. Here’s the two I picked up:
I’m going to attempt to turn a t-shirt pattern into a breastfeeding dress with pockets. What could go wrong?
It’s patterned fabric but I don’t think I will try to pattern match because that sounds really hard on top of my other adjustments.
Ooo good luck!!
