I just picked 2 cups of tart cherries from the trees in my yard, and there are many more coming. What is a good recipe?
I made a really nice sweet sauce this week! I used it on chicken but it would be good on veggie stuff too, like chickpeas or tofu!
roast 1 large white onion + 3 orange/red bell peppers on baking sheet (coat in oil first)
put peppers and onion in food processor + juice from 2 oranges (puree together)
add in 1 tsp smoked paprika + 1 tsp ancho chili powder + 1 tsp cayenne pepper + 1 tsp salt (puree together again)
Cherry stewed chunky apples! I haven’t done it before, but I do rhubarb in the spring and cranberries in the fall. Tart cherries would be the perfect summer version.
I don’t know if you like to bake but I love this recipe for tart cherries:
Ooh good ideas!
YOU HAVE A TART CHERRY TREE
I AM SO JEALOUS
Ahem. I like to make cherry crisp with them. Or pie filling (but that’s pretty labor intensive)
This sounds really good and would use up our leftover orange juice (which I bought for a cocktail idea that fell flat).
I have all the ingredients in this except for vegetarian oyster sauce. What is a low sodium substitute?
(I’m subbing coconut aminos for the soy sauce already)
Late to this, but I sometimes put millet in my banana bread because it has this lovely popping texture.
Back late to this… are potatoes, sweet potatoes, yams all out? I’m kinda assuming they fall in the veggie category but sometimes starchy things can play differently.
In my Too Good to Go grab bag today was a container of sour cream dip with caramelized onions.
Obviously it could be a dip with carrots or cucumbers, or something with mashed potatoes, quesadillas. Any other inspiration?
Could be good on tacos or enchiladas too? Maybe smeared on buns for burgers?
Burger smear would be great.
@mountainmustache29 i got my dad on the Taylor Farms dill pickle salad bandwagon, you’re officially an influencer.
(For anyone not following the saga, Louie is my dog and he’s fine!)
I’m so glad the dill pickle salad kit is making the rounds! haha. I haven’t had one in so long, I can’t find it where I’m staying this summer. It’s on my list to buy as soon as I get back to AZ!
I have historically been someone who has had to trick myself into eating vegetables but oh my goodness this recipe is magic and delicious and I find myself looking forward to eating courgette. New default lunch recipe found! MARINATED Vegetarian Pasta Salad! | RecipeTin Eats
oh, I could do a marinated pasta salad with those roast veggies I got today.
Thank you for the idea.
Quiche using most broccoli and peppered cheddar from prior 2G2G bags. Also I remembered I had some chunks of prosciutto from when I thought I was getting pancetta, so I put some of that in there too.
I am trying to not have too much carry over and to use what I get in the bags before going after a new one instead of just putting into the freezer.
Dinner party? Lunch party? Who knows party is happening here Sunday.
The impetus is that uncle 1 has a friend who owns a pizza hut and he wants to get a million pizzas and wings for his nephews’ family - so there will be lots of that but we don’t know how much.
There will be
10+ adults
3 ish children of normal ages
3 ish toddlers
I can’t eat that food and most others will prefer a variety of food; uncle two is attending, is also veggie and has a bee in his bonnet about wanting homemade food over takeout (I really like him except for this). And culturally MIL will want to cook but won’t tell us what and I want to serve something. Also MIL is at another house and might be too sick to come.
My thoughts are -
- black bean/corn/salsa salad
- Cauliflower wings and deep fried green chilis
- Maybe a rice dish? Or curried noodles? Something I can eat all week
- A green salad or veggie tray
I am also considering dessert, but I have no idea - does anyone else have thoughts?
Dirt cups! Pudding with gummy worms and crushed Oreo. Easy and the kids will love it
