Hey my dudes, I have two jugs of apple juice.

@Bracken_Joy - fun drinks?
@flan - fun desserts?

Sauces? Dressings?

Anybody?

Toss it? Lol

Apple juice is definitely the OG smoothie base. And it’s not the right season, but you can always heat it up and Gussie it up with some spices to make a spiced cider type deal. There’s also some really cool fall themed cocktails that use apple juice.

I just made a horrible smoothie so I am glad to have something else to fall back on.

apple juice popsicles? Could mix with another fruit to make more festive…but frozen apple juice is super yum!

Related to this… what to do with a bag of old and somewhat mealy apples that no one wants to eat? Not a big fan of desserts like apple pie or apple crisp

Cook with sausage, potatoes, onion, and sauerkraut. Melt some cheese on top.

Or cube into ~1cm squares and add to chicken salad.

ooh I have a visceral reaction to the idea of fruit in chicken salad, but with sausage etc sounds good!!

purple cabbage & apple slaw? or braised? baked with pork shoulder or pork tenderloin?

Applesauce has saved me from eating mealy apples. It won’t be the best applesauce, but it will be an improvement.

This time of year, I highly recommend chunky cinnamon apples with rhubarb (if still available whenever everyone is located). In fall, cranberry chunky apples is where it’s at. Easier than full on applesauce, and more forgiving of mealy apples I feel like.

Omggggg with rhubarb! Will def try that.

Just chop it short enough the fiber length won’t bother you :slight_smile: I don’t mind it longer, but the fibers do stay somewhat intact, so do a rustic dice if you’re likely to be bothered by it. (I normally hate squishy textures but love that dish so who the heck knows lol)

I have a few slices of very smoky beef brisket, probably about a cup if it were shredded.

I was considering

  • black bean/oyster sauce noodles, bell pepper
  • tacos with refried pinto beans and shredded cabbage
  • penne with bocconcini and asiago
  • sweet potato home fries, corn, tomato

But none are particularly appealing to me more than the others. Any revisions or additional ideas?

I love a good bbq sandwich on a bun (or over mashed potatoes). Side of slaw, pickle, potato salad, sweet potato fries, corn or whatever!

@plainjane My six year old asked me to remember for his birthday (next June) that I should make two of these, because now it’s his very favorite cake ever, apparently. The cookies are weirdly oreo-like, but also kind of like ice cream sandwich cookies. It’s interesting, but good. Next time I’ll eat it with berries to cut the sweetness, I think.
