I’d probably store tajin and olive oil at work. I once had drizzled honey on top, that was fun, and work sometimes has honey for the tea drinkers.

Tajin and avocado are so good.

Paging @Bernadette to the smoothie phone! We got a Vitamix for a wedding gift, and I am desperate to make some good lunch smoothies! I pretty much make the same one over and over:

  • handful of spinach
  • enough almond milk (I don’t measure anymore)
  • half a frozen banana (I don’t love ice in my smoothies)
  • scoop of greek yogurt
  • tbsp of pb or another nut butter
  • frozen or fresh berries if we’ve got 'em

I am a protein powder newbie but interested in learning about it. Definitely prefer natural sweeteners or no sweetener. Bonus points for anything with a vegetable in it.

Got one free box of Daily Harvest before we had the new blender and I liked them even though my $20 blender couldn’t handle the nuts. I need to google around and see if there are copycat recipes out there. There was a really great one with carrots and dates!

Ah-ha! I loved the mint and cacao one, too.

We use frozen beans (chickpeas or black beans or others) instead of protein powder. Does anyone else do this? Other non measured ingredients are frozen fruit, kale, and some water. I don’t detect the bean taste or texture and I don’t get gassy eating beans this way. I think the frozen fruit is the dominant flavor.

For fruit we almost always use some banana since because yum nice and creamy, but also add berries and/or pineapple. I’ll even freeze apples if they aren’t crisp enough for me to enjoy fresh.

Does anyone have any recipes this week taking advantage of foods that are on sale for Easter/Passover? Trying to meal plan for next week now that the grocery store weekly ad has dropped.

baked buffalo cauliflower got a thumbs up from the shadowy one, “you can barely taste the cauliflower”. For a vegan, soy-free, gluten free fun snack thing, they were quite decent. I wasn’t a fan of the sauce. They’d probably be better with plum sauce, sweet chili, ketchup, mayo… And the shadowy one did the cooking, so definitely accessible for anyone allowed near an oven.

we got them for 3.99 on sale

We had them in tacos with refried beans and cheese, so instantly removed the gluten free & dairy free, but it was fun to have the panko crunch.

ETA: I made the refried beans from scratch, so I’m pretty pleased with that new skill too

Omg refried beans from scratch are soooo gooooood. Did you use lard? Or something else?

I used the leftover fat from the half priced “Korean”-flavoured pork belly I roasted week or two ago.

Huh interesting. I use protein powder because I really need it, I have never heard of this before! I’ve only been doing frozen fruit smoothies so far.

Made these today because I have a lot of frozen strawberries to use up, and had bought phyllo a few months back. Omg so easy and super tasty! Took 12 minutes to bake in the oven. I will definitely make again.

Hot weather no/low-cook vegetarian meals that are filling and not greens-based salads as I have that covered? Also no zoodles/caulifloodles… what is the sweet potato equivalent? Swoodles?. I don’t have a spiralizer and also yuck.

Maybe I should just rely on Instant Pot fare?

Once again I have come to you to offer this amazing dish. Minimum stovetop time. Good over rice or with naan.

I just soak the rice noodles in room temperature water for a few minutes, I find boiling them makes them mushy.

If you have power on your porch/patio, put the Instantpot there while you’re cooking to avoid steaming up the house. If you have a toaster oven, you can cook all kinds of things there, also on the porch. Even more so if you have one of those countertop convection ovens. But a little toaster oven from a thrift store is a great gateway drug to this kind of thing.

I think there’s an extra outlet in the shed where the washer and dryer are? No outdoor outlet on the porch but in a pinch we could run a cord out the front door, there’s an outlet right next to the door.

I bet these would be really good deconstructed too!
