Hm… I have all of that, sort of. I have unmade cranberry sauce. It was one of my jobs for today, so it’s less intense tomorrow.

This is a great idea. Cranberry sauce also goes well in muffins

I’ve been eyeing a cranberry orange bread recipe but haven’t made it yet. Sounds great. Bet it would be a good use as well. I don’t think cranberries get nearly enough love.

I stirred leftover whole cranberry sauce into plain yogurt last year (Or, you know the last time we had Thanksgiving, which was not last year) and it was great.

Last year fiancé made sweet potatoes that involved sage butter and his family was mad lol. This is one dish, I guess, where variation and innovation are not welcome! This year he didn’t know what to do, so I suggested trying the classic Ina Garten version. For some reason he’s not super keen on her, or wasn’t familiar with her excellence?? This recipe might change his mind :sunglasses:

 Blasphemy!

But for real, love Ina, love her love of Jeffrey, never want to cook her recipes

Hahahaha. I think she is great for certain kinds of classic dishes! I love her split pea soup. The sweet potatoes are delicious.

I make this with limas instead of favas. Sometimes I throw a can of chickpeas in when I want more protein.

How do you think it would be with green olives instead? Otherwise sounds like a winner for us!! Thank you!

I think it would be good! I’ve left the jalapeño out and used more Italian or Mediterranean spices before, and it was nice those ways too.

Question for anyone who wants to answer: what are your funny little just for you comfort food meals? I’m talking about the type of meal that doesn’t have a recipe and won’t be found in any book or on a restaurant menu. I like hearing about those!

Mine is probably plain boiled pasta tossed into canned tomato soup. I just love it. I also really like instant noodles with only half broth, a steamed egg, and lots of sesame seeds. Oh, and I really like getting a bowl and filling it with one part pickles (any vegetable), one part cheese, and one part crackers. One more I thought of: tortilla + cream cheese + sriracha, then all rolled up.

Ritz crackers, a quarter of a single-serve sliced cheese, and some applesauce. When I was in college the applesauce also came from a single-serve cup.

… I just looked down at my snack and it’s pretzels, sliced cheddar, and apple slices. Heh.

It used to be hot, sweet milk and vanilla wafers. These days, my comfort food is probably just a cup of tea.

For a meal? If it’s just me, mashed potatoes. I will happily eat a huge bowl of mashed all by my lonesome. DH isn’t fond of them as a meal, so we don’t do that.

Oh and rice cooked in chicken broth, then eggs added like egg drop soup. Somewhere between congee, chicken and rice soup, and egg drop soup.
