I hope you get a free bouquet back.
I’ve been wondering if we should just get a cheap 32" flat screen TV + DVD player + hdtv antenna + $60 modern day TV cart.
We rent DVDs from the library sometimes and should get good over the air channels.
Definitely not as sleek and probably too heavy/cumbersome to take up and down the stairs though (workout setup is upstairs, living room is downstairs).
But I’m worried the smart TV setup will lock us into paying more for subscriptions to actually be able to use it for movies and sports!
I have a hair consultation Thursday. The website says that they are free but do I tip? FWIW the lady I’m seeing owns the salon.
Nope.
Nope.
Wait–because it’s a consult, or because it’s the owner? Curious for myself; tipping is very confusing!
When you trap a spider/bug under a cup and take it outside.

Is the cup then dirty? Goes into the sink/dishwasher?
I have my opinion but want to hear others.
Also, @turtlegirl No tip for consults unless they’re creating something for you (like a tattoo consult where they are drawing something for you that takes time or a color mapping consult where they’re building you a portfolio, etc.).
Spider and bug cups get washed. Some insects excrete stuff when they’re stressed. Stink bugs, I’m thinking of you.
I feel like there’s no harm in washing it up just to feel less…icky haha
Wash! Maaaaybe just rinse but why not wash?
Am I the only one that leaves it outside because it’s icky and then 2 months later bemoans the loss of one of my favorite cups and then remembers it’s gathering dust on the porch ![]()
For me, it’s a bit of both.
Theory goes that an owner sets their own prices and therefore automatic tipping is not required.
For the consult, I expect that to be included in the cost of the service I’m going to be getting. Tipping will occur once the service is completed. Note: this would be the case if service provider was not owner; as owner, rule above applies.
I’m assuming that this stylist will have ideas for making my color something I’m happier with than my current one has managed. I’m assuming that I will switch completely to her and leave mine, because of course I wouldn’t do color with her and keep getting cuts with my current stylist. The front desk said she’s accepting new clients.
But… what if she says my stylist did the same thing she’d do? And that my expectations are too high because we’re not in a major city here with gray blending experts. I guess just thank her for the time she spent and that I will think about it and call for an appointment?
Yes!
Also, I know of her because she bought a kitchen from my coworker and I’ve done many projects for her in-laws. Maybe I won’t mention that until I hear what she has to say.
Secret option C: we have a “bug gun” so my kids can stare at it for a while first and look under the magnified part at them. Thus, no dirty dishes.
This was just added to my Amazon cart! OMD is bad for my pocket book today ![]()

Well worth it
I’ve given like 6 as gifts now (and Latte got this one as a gift years ago). It’s much beloved. Yesterday my 2.5 year old carried a spider around in it for a good 30 min, cooing and saying things like “hims so cute!” And “hers got little legs like me!” 5/5, adorable.
New windshield is $650. Deductible is $250. Would you do a claim or just pay it? I’m thinking pay it.
I’d personally pay it - I always hear stories about people using insurance for smaller things and then their rate gets jacked up.
(I’m in a particularly dicey area insurance-wise, so YMMV)
