My mom knitted us booties and they stayed on SO well. We didn’t use socks at all until 15 months when he needed them under shoes. If you knit up several sizes of booties they would probably love it. Especially if you found some way to add grip to the bottom of any bigger ones

I know several of my friends said they couldn’t have too many washcloths/burping cloths/mess towel- type things

I will be the sad voice of disagreement here- knit and crochet stuff does NOT work for us, her little fingers and toes get snagged by everything and I’m always terrified she’ll get hurt. So sadly all the stuff we got is decorative only :frowning:

I like to always get something for the parents because they get forgotten! Make her some socks that match baby, etc. I usually get movie passes or coffee gift cards - a little hard when it’s going to Germany.

We didn’t have too much of a spitter so we actually did end up with too many of these! And frankly the best ones are cheapo prefold diapers rather than the homemade ones.

Oh no! So Sad!

Someone I know had some autoimmune related skin issues years ago when their lifestyle was not great (high stress night shift job, smoking). No official diagnosis ever happened as far as I know. Now the issues might be cropping up again cause of corona stress, resulting in a lot of itchiness. I can’t imagine being itchy for days on end on top of everything else. Are there any home remedies that can be tried?edit, person does not like going to Dr, not great experience even before virus

I’m not making anything with lace for that reason - little fingers plus lace is a terrible idea. I’m planning on very solid fabric that even preemie fingers couldn’t get through. Do you get snagging on solid fabric, or just lace fabrics?

I get skin irritation and itchiness as part of my autoimmune symptoms. Things that they might have at home that could help: olive oil, castor oil, jojoba oil, or antibiotic ointment.

The only thing @LifeInBalance didn’t cover that occurs to me- grandpas tar soap.

I don’t know. There’s not like, big visible holes in the blanket? But stuff still snags it and makes me incredibly anxious about the baby getting a tourniquet then.

I have silken tofu but I don’t know how to use it (except for making chocolate “mousse”).
Do you have vegetarian recipes you would recommend?

I really like this soup! I definitely use a whole block of tofu in it… You could easily sub out the chicken stock for another kind, so there is so much umami going on in the rest of the dish.

Is it really terrible to take a Benadryl when also already taking Alleve Allegra? The cottonwood in front of my house is in full bloom. :expressionless:

I’m not aware of any interactions between diphenhydramineen and naproxen and have taken both together many times to help sleep (I’m super drowsy with benadryl compared to 2nd gen antihistamines).

I’m super drowsy with Benadryl too, but this sneezing is out of control. :joy: A normal dose (2 capsules) knocks me out, but one capsule, although not as effective, just makes me annoyingly drowsy. Since I am stupid busy with packing, that might be ok? (Constantly leaning down with a drippy nose is not fun… )

I often take tiny doses of children’s liquid Benadryl (or tiny, nasty-tasting bits out of a capsule if I don’t have the liquid). I can usually find a happy medium where the snot mostly stops and I’m only barely drowsy by adding another tiny bit every 20 minutes or so until I feel better (then I stop taking any until the snot comes back).

Oooooh I will have to get childrens Benadryl when I finally run out of these capsules, that’s a GREAT idea!

If you’re getting something new, maybe try Zyrtec? It’s newer than Benadryl, targets a different histamine pathway, and is non-drowsy. It works just as fast; effectiveness compared to a heavy hitter like Benadryl is individual but it’s the most common drug my allergy doc recommends people start with.

I am an Alleve Allegra now, which seems to work ok, except when the pollen is really high (or maybe certain pollens?) Do you know if Alleve is the same pathway as Zyrtec?

(I’ll use up all the Alleve Allegra I have now though since I have like 2 week supply probably left? And I have maybe a dozen leftover Benadryl from before I basically stopped using it.)

Aleve is an NSAID so wouldn’t be the same. Unless you mean Allegra?
