@druidessie @rural Thank you!! Good to know :+1:

I would test it in something small first.

Good idea. Mug cake would be perfect, and of course you’d be obligated to enjoy it once it’s made and all.

My first thought was a weird bread knife. Cake edger is probably more likely tho.

How do I tell the difference between sensible spending and going insane in a pandemic?

If you can afford it, all pandemic spending is sensible.

For myself the tipping point was knowing I was ignoring the little voice that said Dude check your budget… :raising_hand_woman:t5:

The problem here is that I’m way under projected spending…

Then I agree it’s totally reasonable spending

Things that make life easier RIGHT NOW even if it’s “temporary” are totally justified IMO.

It’s like - buying things that help us get through the infant stage of baby raising is A-OK even though we know we’ll only need them for that time period of life.

Same goes for this colicky little Rona baby phase.

I just realized that the pandemic has raised the dollar to reale (Brazilian currency) ratio to the highest it’s been in ages. Gonna spend some time perusing some favorite shops and ordering things to my aunts house. Will receive whenever family next visits. Cute shoes and dresses, here I come!

And Natura lotions and creams (though you can find some on Amazon). And coffee!

I just stocked up on Natura lotions when my dad was down the before Carnaval, but the body washes and body oils are a good idea! Also perfume.

I did a tour of the Natura plant (really mostly just see the order pickers / shippers). Nice campus - relatively small.

I do wish they had some unscented products, or different scent stores I like more. When my hand started get really dry, the hand cream is almost the only fix - and I love that it is not greasy and doesn’t leave a tacky feeling on the skin either.

I live for their almond oil lotions. The scent doesn’t feel very heavy to me and it’s such an effective and light cream.

Right now I have maracujá - I need to look up what that is - it is a bit strong. I prefer citrus or cucumber or peppermint scents.

ETA: google rescue - this is suppose the be passion fruit. Maybe the flower? It is sweet but not a fruity smell, not really floral either. I like the hand cream more than the lotion, the lotion doesn’t seem to absorb as well.

Passionfruit

Crosspost!

I got this from Amazon - and just guessed since unscented didn’t seem to be an option. Finding things on Amazon is such a PITA sometimes. Natura was thinking of expanding to the US over 10 years ago, but I don’t think they have any US store or distributors.

A very good friend is gonna have her first baby in October. She lives in Germany and my bestie and I are planning on sending her a handmade baby care package. In addition to a blanket and tiny bb hats, I’d like to focus on things I can knit or crochet that will just make her life easier or more pleasant. She’ll be a new parent and she’s going to have some physical struggles (she’s adaptive on multiple fronts and pregnancy in particular is going to be so hard on her particular body), and I just want her to feel cherished and surrounded and seen by friends even when she’s far from family in the middle of a pandemic.

We will also be sending her American candies/treats (Reese’s!) and I kind of want to organize a virtual baby shower for her where everyone does stuff like decorate onesies and then I collect and ship them with the rest of our baby care package.

What kind of stuff would you make/send along?
