If maxing the 401K can get you back into the income range that you can contribute to a Roth, it might be worth the high fees but you would have to run the numbers.
I’m not sure why the pro rata rule would not apply? FWIW multiple tax professionals I’ve talked to have not been experts on backdoor Roths so I would double check on your own to confirm whatever they say.
Jumping to make this about me (sorry) - it sounds like a CPA is the person you’d ask about qualifying for a backdoor Roth in the US? Not a financial advisor? We have complicated finances so I want a professional to tell me what’s allowed. I have access to a mega backdoor Roth at work.
No idea. He’s at the dentist now so I haven’t had a chance to follow up.
No side hustle. Partial ownership of the company, variable income. W2 and K1 payments. I don’t think maxing the 401k would get us into the Roth range but I’ll double check that.
Yes we have a full on CPA now. Once we bought into the company and started getting distributions, it got way too complicated for me to be comfortable doing it on our own. Also because he makes income across multiple states and it gets… so weird and hard to figure out.
We’ve just bought a pod holder for the B&B ‘coffee’ machine as I thought it would look smarter than having the boxes out. My question is - would people from outside the UK know what’s in these pods?
The pod shape I recognize and would inspect further to see if it’s regular coffee, decaf coffee, or hot cocoa. It doesn’t look like it says on the lid part though. I’m guessing hot cocoa but I’m at least somewhat familiar with EU/UK brands where other Americans wouldn’t be.
Thanks for the replies - it’s confirmed that we need to be explicit when we show guests the facilities on arrival, and now we’re settled on which pods we are supplying we can add a note to the instructions on using the machine.
Galaxy is a very popular UK chocolate brand and their pods make an excellent hot chocolate. The other pods are more self explanatitory.
That’s when you make a second cup, this time of actual coffee, and mix them together. Boom “poor girls Mocha” as my mom always called it. I always do that with gas station and hospital coffee
So it’s 5:30 am, 1 degree outside, and we just lost power…but our immediate neighbors seem to still have power! Like, everybody else on our street still seems to have power. I’ve reported the outage to the electrical company, but is there something else I should be doing? Like, something we can try with the panel?
Not gonna lie, I’m panicking a slight bit, because I really really don’t want burst pipes. And our house is not exactly airtight.
Go to main breaker panel. Any breakers in middle position or off should be reset. Does your power come in from underground or an overhead line? If you have an overhead, go look and see if there’s any problem with the line. NO TOUCHY just call and tell your power company if there’s a branch on the line, the sort of thing.
Most likely nothing you can do to get the power back directly though. If you have a gas fireplace use that of course. Open cupboard doors and all that jazz.
Thank you, this is reassuring that there’s not really anything else we can do! Nothing in the breaker panel was tripped/off but partner reset it anyway. Lines are underground so tree branches, etc wouldn’t do it. Got the cabinet doors open and dripping faucets.
Appreciate you, and appreciate you asking Husband
You know how psychedelics can erase your trauma and reset your brain but in a good way? Is there an immune system version? Like can I go to the shroom store and then find meaning in past illness and then process future germs in better ways?
