But I want something to cure all my ills while I sleep. I guess it’s the latest Instagram trend for ads
Placebos can be effective even if you know they are placebos. If you want it to work it might work.
But it’s bullshit.
But it can still work.
A lot of people get and like grounding things. I think some have some research showing benefits but the studies are probably small. Personally, I think if you are energetically sensitive then some of these objects might give you good vibes and help centre you- like in Reiki training we learned an extra technique to help ground people who always interfere with electronics. But also people who always interfere with electronics and also do reiki are a self selecting group.
If you were somewhere you could see and touch the bedsheets and like them and vibe with them, then yes get them! But obviously they don’t replace getting real nature. And only if you can afford them which I know you can.
So as a person who believes a good chunk of this shit I say it’s probably just junk don’t buy any. And in the slight chance it isn’t junk only buy it if you can try it
Have you tried a weighted blanket? I got a $10 one used. It helps my ills
I haven’t, maybe I should
I have never heard of grounding bedsheets and was like, “Are people putting sheets in timeout for being bad?? I don’t think the sheets care??”
Time for me to go to bed on my very non-grounding and non-grounded bedsheets lol
I was kinda excited about the idea of electricity dispersing ones. I hate when I get shocked and I do pretty off.
Sad these are not that.
I have never, once in my life, been shocked by a bedsheet. Carpet, sure. Sheets? Never.
I did when I was in Calgary and it was -40. They should have put more moisturizer in the hotel bathrooms. I have never been so cold or dry.
One person did say he stopped getting shocks.
There’s always some new Instagram scam that sounds amazing.
Yes - it’s called a nocebo (sp?) - I love that term.
I thought that “nocebo” was when you had a bad side effect from a placebo?
Looked it up - you are right! I was sure I heard this on a podcast years sho (Hidden Brain?) but must have misheard.
What’s your favorite way to “use less” of whatever? I use zip pillow liners but no pillow cases. The liners have to be woven for me and zip. It can be tricky to find them, but I’ve managed to get enough and 2 more than we use all the time so I can rotate clean/dirty ones.
It’s just so interesting how it works!
Yes - it’s weird that you can tell someone “this is a sugar pill” and they take it and it helps relieve their medical issue. And so weird that people can get “side effects” from a placebo. In both cases it appears the effect has no root in the “medicine” given.
I have also heard it used to mean an effect from eliminating something (eg, you give up gluten and feel better).
interesting, it would make sense because it feels like there should be an impact from what I’m doing. that sense of control and agency is going to make some things better.
I use paprika which is paid, but offers a limited number of free recipe saves on the android app. (~25?). It also goes on sale every Thanksgiving. My friends use Cozy for this purpose, which I believe is entirely free.
A friend of mine was in the process of beginning to use Mint when it shut down. What free apps can y’all recommend these days? She is a compete beginner to budgeting.
