I think the retainer is only good for obstructive and lower than 20 episodes an hour. The cpap is more effective but you could ask about a retainer! It pulls my jaw forward during the night to prevent my jaw from collapsing my airway while I sleep.

Thank you! I will stop grumping about it now. It’s obviously necessary and there’s a mask that has the tube on top of your head which I think will be more comfortable than hanging down. Plus my cat sleeps tucked into my neck and she could not do that with the tube in the way.

I’m not a tech person. I have a macbook air that I purchased in January 2021, so it’s basically 4 years old. Over the past few weeks it has been doing something crazy. About 50% of the time when I’m using it the fan will kick on like it is overheated, even if it doesn’t feel very warm. Then the fan will not turn off. I will set it aside and close the lid and it will just keep going until it runs out of battery. This morning I used it for about 10 minutes before the fan kicked on and then I set it aside with it plugged in. An hour later the fan was still running so I unplugged it. That was 4 hours ago and I just walked into the room and saw that the fan is still running.

It is doomed? Something is obviously not working right. What do I do to try and get it fixed? (Sorry if what to do seems super obvious to some people. My brain capacity is just overloaded right now and figuring it out is hard).

On a PC I would say there’s something wrong with the drivers and to take it to a repair place.

I’ve never had a mac.

I’m not sure what the issue is, but I will say I’ve had a lot of luck just calling Apple on the phone and talking through things with tech support people. Sometimes they might tell you they actually need to see the computer, but a lot of times it’s something that can be fixed over the phone. I know you are impossibly busy though, but if you get a chance it might be worth a call!

I just did a quick google search and the advice from apple was to use compressed air to clean out all of the vents. Then I discovered that it’s expensive and hard to find the cans of compressed air? It wasn’t available through Target at all and on Amazon it was super expensive. For the cost of 2 cans of compressed air I could buy a mini air compressor/vacuum that does it. So, I went ahead and just bought that and it will have lots of other uses as well.

I’ll try this once it gets delivered and then if it persists I’ll reach out to apple.

So maybe irrelevant now, but it should only be $5-$7 for a can…I got a pack of 6 for about $25 in 2022 and it doesn’t look like it’s gone up much. They’d be something like

Yeah, but I don’t want 6 cans. On amazon I was seeing 1 can for $15-$18 and 2 cans for $20-$30. The handheld compressed air/vacuum thing was $29 :woman_shrugging:t3: It looked like a good thing to keep in the car for small messes.

Sure, the first thing that turned up for me was a single for $7 so I figured it was worth a mention if other people were looking, though.

Weird. I have no idea why the amazon algorithms can be so different

Have you tried shutting down and restarting it? Could be that it’s getting stuck in a resource-intensive loop in the background and that’s causing it to overheat and run the fans. Just running out of battery might not actually be restarting it. Worth a try to go through the shutdown process.

Do your cats drool when they purr?

Our cat did. It’s normal.

Mine has always done it so I assumed it was normal. I just end up with lots of wet spots on my shirt.

One yes (copiously, and in many other situations), one no

I have only had one cat who always drooled when they purred (and yup, you just got used to the wet spots); of the nine other cats I’ve had, one will do so only when he’s really really blissed out.

I think this has been asked before, but I can’t remember I’m sorry!

How do people handle their life admin paperwork??

Assume I am in your worst nightmare current set up. With piles around the house and unopened mail.
Because it’s true.

Do you have… folders??
HOW DO.

I somehow missed this day in Life Class.

I try to do No Folders. Generally, once something is set down it ceases to exist for me. So I have to deal with something in my hands The second it comes to me in the mail. If I cannot do it that second, I set it on top of a very inconvenient place where I’m forced to deal with it immediately. There are very very few things you actually need to keep and keep copies of I have found. For things that I do, I take a picture and put it in OneNote.

I have folders, and also a large number of piles in various places. I don’t recommend my method.
