+1 to Electro swing. I mean it isn’t exactly the same, but it is fun and beat-y. (I love real swing too (esp 40s and hot jazz), for dancing, but electro swing is just fun. I think my Pandora channel was started with… Wax Tailor? I think? Caravan Palace and Parov Stelar are definitely in there. Also Caro Emerald.

Vanessa Mae is the original electric violin diva from way back! She has a great album called Storm. But here’s her Bach Toccata and Fugue:

Edit: ok the album I actually had was The Violin Player. It is so good. But I must have heard some tracks from Storm as well.

I have an open container of Body Shop white musk talc from many many years ago (I assume over two decades). Should it be thrown out?

Posting so I can come back and also extend my music beyond Lindsey Stirling.

Ok darlings, I need some help.
It appears I have messed up my 2020 and 2021 taxes. It’s also time to do this years taxes.
I’ve had folks walk me through it, I’ve tried to do it on my own, I’ve gone to the community tax helpers (they won’t help since I have both an LLC & a W2 and some other complex stuff).

I need to take these piles of papers to a professional(s) but feel like I’m ripe to get ripped off.
There’s a very small locally owned and operated “bookkeeping & taxes” two room office about a mile from me. Is this where I need to go? Where does one go for this type of help?

I’ve always done taxes on my own, but as they’ve gotten more complicated I seem unable to learn at the appropriate speed to keep up.

I believe @JRA64 and @AmandaS1989 are tax experts. BAT SIGNAL!

You could vet the small tax & bookkeeping business like you would any other by checking reviews / references and asking for an estimate. I sometimes like to talk to more than one business, but it may be overkill here. Do you know any other small business owners that you can ask who does their taxes?

You can also go to one of the chains, like H&R Block and Jackson Hewitt. I’m not crazy about them because I think they try to sell you a lot of stuff not in your best interest (like paying $50 to get your refund early on a debit card with a ton of fees) and part of their business model is to make you feel like it’s so complicated you couldn’t possibly do this yourself rather than help you to learn / understand what’s going on.

You could also go with an online service, but I don’t know if it will save you any money or not. I’m also not sure if they will help you amend your 2020 and 2021 returns or deal with IRS letters if that’s the situation; they may just do 2022 returns.

Hiring someone at that point sounds like it makes a lot of sense! If things are very complicated, you can always have them file an extension for you to give you some breathing room.

When I’ve gotten taxes done, the business has been able to give me a quoted price range over the phone - it’s usually based on what forms you’ll need them to fill out. Depending on how complicated your taxes end up being it can vary (like you needed another form done and they couldn’t have known til they saw your papers). But having an itemized price list makes me feel less vulnerable to getting ripped off.

Also +1 to checking reviews! In my area that means Yelp and Google Reviews.

Snow? Ice? We don’t have those here. I don’t even know what they are.

My librarian/kindle user friends - what is going on with Libby not offering Kindle version of books anymore? It feels like a change in the past month where there is only an option to read in Libby. Which is frustrating because I would so much rather read on my Kindle than on my phone.

This is not on every book, some Kindle versions are still available but many are Libby only.

Mine changed how you it displays to click through. It’s still available it just doesn’t say “read with kindle” anymore or whatever it was. There’s an extra screen for me to click through now.
