It didn’t the last time I did this, about 6 weeks ago. I just checked the record in the app and it says I lost it in June. I didn’t even realize it then! It’s been gone longer than I thought :joy:

Huh, you’re right. It used to catch up, but looks like it stopped doing that in Aug/Sept.

I keep my kindle in airplane mode and only connect when I’m changing out library books, so it definitely was counting non connected days over the summer.

We have Cap One and Amex. We only use the programs for high-ticket items as we’ve been whittling down the cc debt. (Paid off Amex last year.) Points, etc. are part of the research we do when buying higher ticket stuff: appliances, major car repairs, etc.

Just out of curiosity, does it matter what condition or location I buy FSA item (and be reimbursed) from as long as I receive a dated receipt?
As in, can I buy a lightly used heating pad on eBay?
Could I go to a yard sale where a couponer is selling unopened peroxide and band aids and buy those as long as they write me a receipt?

Check out IRS Publication 969. And perhaps the documentation from your FSA provider.

Thx! I was just curious if anyone had tried. There doesn’t seem to be a limitation, although I’m not sure how they are defining the term “over the counter”.

If you live in the same area as your parents and or in laws, what would you say is the average frequency of how often you see them/visit/etc.?

I don’t have a good frame of reference as an adult so far… until now I have been farther away and my peers I’ve been around have also typically been farther away … so I am curious!

How would you go about finding someone good to hire to deep clean a bathroom?

Probably 3ish times a month on average. My parents aren’t big schedule people, so we don’t have any set things like Sunday night dinners. If we go 3 weeks without seeing them, it feels like it’s been awhile.

My younger brother is more independent, so I’d guess he sees them once a month.

All 3 households live 15-20 mins apart.

We see ours once to twice a month, and live 30 min away.

Nextdoor is where I found my cleaning lady.

Mine live an hour away and we see them about three times a month as well. There are some months where that’s a lot more frequent because they provide backup childcare when it works out for their schedule but if everyone is healthy and living life we generally see them one weekend for an activity and twice for dinner. They scheduled a csa delivery in our area that gets picked up every other week and provides a reason for them to be around for dinner on a week night.

Before kids weekly or every other week. Rarely stretches to a month. But also no more phone calls

I live 2 hours from my folks and it feels weird to go a month without seeing them. That was based on old job when I would travel for work and frequently stop by/stay with them when I was in their city. Now it seems we’re settled around every 6 weeks.

When we lived near my in laws it was about twice a month. Now that we live near my family it’s more like 5-7 times per month. When we didn’t live near my mom I probably talked to her +2x on the phone too, if that gives you any added intel.

Yikes, apparently I don’t see my mom that much compared to other people. I see her probably every other month? Or maybe every 3rd month? We text a fair bit, though.

We probably see them about once a week briefly and have a longer sit down visit once every two weeks. They are only about 5 minutes away.

Is there a kind of charity donation aggregator thing, kind of like Patreon for charities?

Basically I’m thinking that I’d like to change from making larger, one-off donations once or twice a year to smaller monthly donations for a collection of charities I support. But I would rather not have 5-10 small donation transactions on my credit card bill every month, especially if they are on different days. Is there any way to set it up so that I pay one monthly lump and then it gets divided out among the charities I want it to go to?

I guess an alternative would be to have charitable donations all go on a credit card that I don’t otherwise use (but am keeping since it is my oldest one and there’s no fee) and then pay that once a month.

A lot of charities offer an automatic debit program every month. If it’s from your checking account, they don’t have to pay credit card fees.

I absolutely hate automatic debits from my checking account, so I’m definitely looking to use a credit card. I was just hoping that I could set it up somehow that I would have (for example, using made up numbers) one $100 charge each month that gets sent to 5 different charities rather than five $20 charges each month.
