My one caveat to try in store is if you have particular needs- extended sizing, two different cup sizes, that sort of thing. Then online companies are the way to go.
I went to Nordstrom rack, tried on everything on the sale rack, bought everything I liked and then continued buying the exact same thing in different for the next 7 years
I have no useful advice but I’m sorry you’re going though this.
Stop looking at, reading, listening to news reports. Go on a very low information diet. It can be hard, they might be sending you email or texts. And “sending” ads to non-political websites or game apps.
Super low information diet. Like immediately if things are getting that bad. And start pouring in the exact opposite in whatever way fills your cup. I limit/filter what I let in largely out of necessity. Do you have a therapist or support group right now? I’d also try to get set up with someone to discuss your flare up and figure out some solutions. Sometimes I have to take meds for a bit during the worst parts and I’ve never regretted doing that, either. <3
Hi, a late reply. I live in Melbourne so a couple of thoughts. I haven’t been to see the Penguins for many years but agree with @Littlebird’s recommendation, its a very popular thing for visitors. You can see them at dusk. The Royal Exhibition Building Dome Promenade is very newly opened and I haven’t been there but I have been to the Exhibition Building itself, it was a actually a state vaccination hub and its a lovely building - pic below from when I had my first covid vax. The Royal Botanical gardens in the city and out in Cranbourne are great to visit. And if you have time for a day trip you could visit somewhere like the Mornington Peninsula - coastal walks, wineries. As @PDM mentioned Melbourne is known for its coffee culture, alleyways, restaurants. A bit of a haphazard answer - if anything else comes to mind I’ll let you know and happy to answer any questions.
I forgot about Kohls. Do we even have that here? … ahhh, fuck. I’d have to go to Covington or Slidell and both are really really far. Blargh.
I miss Marshall Field’s. That was always my go-to. Which also tells you how long it has been since I have tried on bras. Wait, that’s not true, have also done so at Target but Target bras in my experience fall apart really quickly. I suppose it’s a place to start though.
Ooooo, there is a Nordstrom Rack near the quarter. LOL, I said “rack.”
Maybe I can try that.
Target carries a lot of brands. Just avoid the Auden brand if you don’t want their in house ones, but they also carry all the big name brands.
I’ve had luck with aerie, but I typically buy a bunch online and then return them instead of trying on in store. They run a little small imo but have good support and good coverage.
Something I did recently because I kept coming back to something and re-hashing it in my mind:
I made a list of all the things I need / want to do. Like all the balls that are still in the air. For me it was to take a good look at all of the things I was choosing NOT to do, the opportunity cost, when I was worrying instead.
And when I find myself going down the rabbit hole again, coming back to the list and picking something that I believe is a better use of my time because it will build a relationship or improve my quality of life etc. It was hard initially but it’s getting easier.
Yep, and more people need extended sizing than realize it. But you can find good sales even for the fancy brands. There’s a great size calculator at r/abrathatfits
Thats a great idea.
Because of the PTSD I hardly look at the news, but I just realized my youtube feed is about 1/2 frugality and 1/2 political and likely will be u til after election day.
That said, the dropped balls need to be picked up. A list of the pending items will help goad me away from a computer, writing about life instead of actually doing something. Thanks!
Good luck! Let us know how it works out.
This might be a long shot but does anyone know anything about savings bonds?
My mother transferred to me some five or six figure amount of federal bonds in 2020 and it was a crazy year and I’m fuzzy on it now. I remember that TreasuryDirect was involved, but the bonds in question are not actually represented on TreasuryDirect. TreasuryHunt didn’t find anything. Has anyone had a similar experience? Where else do I need to be looking to track down my bonds? I don’t want to spend them, I just want to, you know, look at them and mentally swim in their dollars.
Do you have any documentation such as emails from the time of transfer? If the savings bonds don’t show in Treasury Direct, are they by any change paper bonds?
Sorry. “…are they by any CHANCE…”
No, I already searched my email. They may at one time have been paper bonds- I believe they are quite old- but were transferred to me electronically. My only other clue is that my mom says hers say First Bank of Texas on them.
Are you sure they were transferred to you? Is it possible that your mother registered the paper bonds at Treasury Direct so that they are still under her name in her Treasury Direct account? It might be worth checking.
Also, have you tried Treasury Hunt? https://www.treasurydirect.gov/savings-bonds/treasury-hunt/. You might be able to locate the bonds there.
Does anybody know anything about getting medical documentation of low vision in order to access paratransit or other accommodations? I have no problem with daily activities or close work but I think it might be useful to have some evidence to display, “listen, I really have no business driving a car, please stop trying to include it in my job duties”
