I prefer them for windows and, depending on the texture, sometimes they’re more absorbent. They’re nice for anything you’re scrubbing. IME they suck for kitchen rags though, build up a hydrophobic film way too fast and you have to strip them constantly. So I’d say like bathrooms > kitchens.
Is there any reason for me to change my voter registration? I’m still registered republican (looool that ship sailed a long time ago) and frankly haven’t changed it because Husband gets a billion calls from the Dems all the time and tons of shit in the mail and it’s annoying. I’m in Oregon and I don’t vote republican anymore (obvs). So… is it worth the spam calls and work to change it? Does it harm anyone or benefit anyone else how I’m registered?
I’m registered as Independent and get very little political spam - So far this cycle I think I got two letters from Biden, and then the usual fliers once the ballots are out. But no calls or texts.
That said, I don’t donate to political parties or campaigns, I stick to NGOs. So the amount of charity spam is higher
EDIT: this does mean I don’t vote in the primaries. Maybe I’m nonaffiliated? I can’t remember.
I move often enough that charity spam hasn’t kept tabs🙌 Mainly. The one that has just send stuff once per year.
But yeah. I might go independent if I do bother to change it. Just wondering what the real implications are. Oregon doesn’t really seem to impact presidential primaries much. Not sure what state and local I’m missing?
Does it impact voting in primaries? If not, I wouldn’t worry. In my state you have to declare a party for the caucus (and primaries I think) - and you register at the caucus.
I don’t know about Oregon but in some states you must be registered to a particular party to vote in that party’s primary, or at least declare your intent to vote in that party’s primary, because the party does not have an open primary in that state, which adds an extra level of things you have to do to be able to vote in the primary (for any level of government). This is true in my state. So I would just check into this to make sure about local elections.
So in my basement my basement walls (poured concrete) have this stuff on top of it, which is painted (old, very faded). Does anyone know what this stuff is called, so I can look it up? In spots, like here, it has flaked off, revealing the concrete beneath, and I think I want to patch it and paint it, to spruce it up. is it just like some sort of cement (like thinset or something)? For reference, my house is 100 years old.
(Pay no attention to the wire that is in front of it, it is for the garden.)
I use microfiber for dusting, and that’s what we’ve always used for dusting at my various retail workplaces.
Not 100% sure if it’s cement or something more like plaster or stucco applied over it but I think some sort of patching cement would be the correct product to improve it but it’s possible stucco would be better. If you have a hardware store with knowledgeable folks they might be worth an ask.
I would have to go to Home Depot or Lowes, so it’s anyone’s guess as to how knowledgeable they might be, although I am sure you are right, and that’s what I should do (but I don’t wanna and here’s the reason - when I go into a hardware store and don’t know what I need I feel like it is reinforcing all those stereotypes about helpless women and it sucks). I was hoping someone here would just… know.
I broke off a piece and it is hard but kind of brittle and about 1/8" thick. And I don’t know what stucco looks like when not on the outside of a house. (I hadn’t even thought it might be stucco though…) My sense is that it has been here a long time, since some areas are almost devoid of color while others still are fairly blue (paint, I assume). It’s possible that it would be better to remove it all and re-cover with something more appropriate (if there is something more appropriate) but like… my basement is like 800 sq ft (mostly a big square) and that’s a lot of area to take a sledgehammer to. Completely exposed concrete would look worse. Improving the overall appearance will help the overall look of my house though. (my basement is completely unfinished, but with 6+’ ceilings and concrete/cement floor (ie not dirt like some old houses) so it has a lot of potential).
I took a photo - when you look at it closely it looks like composite something with lots of bits of… stone?
(Ugh my nails.)
I asked professor google and stucco is basically a type/subtype of cement so I think if you google articles on repairing stucco that will get you the info you need
I also was googling and it looks like stucco is fairly common (which I had no idea!), so I think you are correct!
Someone please tell me why the Korean restaurant is playing Xmas music.
How do I send Bernie money?
You might get routed to Act Blue. At first there were too many candidates, and now I wish it hadn’t narrowed so suddenly. This probably happens almost every time (collapses to 2 early in the process).
I’ve been routed to Act Blue every time, but all the thank-you (and please send more) emails come from Bernie’s campaign.
Same. I get several emails EACH day! Delete, delete, delete…
Oh, yeah. But at least this spam onslaught is temporary. Hope it continues to November…
Actually I get Bernie emails throughout the year, I gave $ in 2016 and have been on the contact list since then. Not several emails a day though.
What does it mean that the stock market is halted due to steep declines? They can do that???
