Has anyone ever used Visible Wireless?

I’m mad at Verizon for having terrible customer service and adding surprise new fees to my account, but they have the best network here. I considered using Google Fi, but my husband has heard bad things about their coverage in Northern Colorado and doesn’t want to switch. A coworker just suggested Visible, but I’ve literally never heard of them before today. Apparently they use the Verizon network.

Total wireless uses the Verizon network too and I haven’t had problems with them. I pay only $37/month for unlimited talk and text and get 10GB per month.

Consumer Cellular uses either Verizon or AT&T, depending on what’s best in your area. You can also tell them which one you want. Been using them for years and still happy with them.

@AmandaS1989 Just read in the N&O today that DOR determined that the student loan forgiveness would be subject to state taxes as income. So Bloomberg was wrong for NC at least.

Boo. Oh well, that’s still only like 5% so fuck it. I’ll pay their silly tax. Paying off my car is a worthy exchange.

I have a Visible phone. It is $25/mo for unlimited talk/text/data on the Verizon network. I have it as a backup as having a mobile lifestyle (live in my motor home) I try to keep devices on most major networks. I have AT&T hotspot ($22/mo) and use Metro by T- ($60/mo) for my main phone. All are unlimited and the T-Mobile gives me Amazon Prime included. It is my primary phone and has actual places I can walk in and talk to someone. They just started charging to actually go in and talk to a customer service person, though, so I may just get a better phone for the visible and a cheap phone on a different T-Mobile plan.

Friends who have wedding planned recently, what lists do you like to use to find vendors? Thinking about hiring a wedding photographer in Vegas and getting some pics taken.

When are you there? I have a wedding photographer friend (she’s quite good, I asked her to do some photos for us) who travels to Vegas sometimes and will do shoots when she’s visiting.

Ooh, thanks! Week of 10/31, Thursday 11/3 would be ideal.

I sent her a note asking if she’ll be in Vegas or if she has any other recommendations. If not I’d just Google “Vegas wedding photographer” or “Vegas couples photographer” and people’s websites or those wedding directories will pop up and you can start looking at portfolios to see what you like

The variable is that I want someone who markets themselves as specifically LGBT-friendly, so the best case is a database where I can filter by that. I know lots of people used A Practical Wedding way back in 2019 when I was planning a wedding, so that might still be the way to go.

They revamped a ton of stuff but the vendor directory should still be a focal point

I used Wedding Wire as a starting point. They have a filter for LGBT friendly I believe?

Also Offbeat Bride has a vendor directory

Cross posted from journal: So I googled ranges and realized there are a lot of labor dat sales happening. So I’m considering buying one while that’s going on.

I’m heavily considering an induction range. I’ve been a bit of a gas fanatic for a while but I’m a mess and my gas range is a pain in the ass to clean. Plus there is an increase in safety with induction over gas.

What are good brands? I absolutely hate my LG.

We’ve been very happy with our Kenmore elite. I recommend knobs over buttons, and an oven that has convection or “air fry” settings.

ETA although overall kenmore isn’t the best at fit and finish type stuff. But we got it as a used one and like it. We had a Frigidaire before this and also liked it, BUT the fan hum was a little annoying.

Pay attention to front versus back controls, buttons versus knobs.

I have a Frigidaire - price was right (just less than $1K). There is a hum, but you soon get used to it.

Sorry I’m a few days late. I have Visible. It doesn’t just use the Verizon network; it is owned by Verizon. My primary phone is a cheap MVNO on the ATT network. It has very expensive data, which I rarely need to use. So in the summer when I’m traveling a lot I get a second line with Visible. It has worked for all my needs. This is my second summer with the service and if I needed data more than a few months per year it would probably be my primary phone service.

Last summer I was able to cancel my home internet and just use Visible (you can tether one device at a time to it). Video was a little slow sometimes but I was able to watch movies on my laptop tethered to my phone (with a little patience).

(And if you decide to switch I’d be happy to give you a referral so we both get a month for $5.)

I was wondering if I should do the same thing and cancel my Xfinity internet to hotspot on Google Fi unlimited data… anyone here have experience w this exact scenario?

I only did it (with Visible) long enough to get a “please come back” amazing deal from Xfinity. I haven’t tried with Google Fi ( because I haven’t had their unlimited plan when I’ve had it) but it was just annoying enough (mostly the one device at a time restriction Visible has) I was happy to return to Xfinity when they came calling. But I DO recommend trying it if you are unhappy with what you are paying to Xfinity. I went from $75/mo to $30/mo for faster internet. Locked in for 2 years. Definitely worth a few months of laggy video streaming (to me, anyway).
