That explains the arrowheads. I don’t think I have ever used split function, I have used lock for a similar purpose.
I threw out my high school yearbook yesterday. I don’t have any kids and I am no one famous. I haven’t looked at it in 20 years. It felt good to shed it.
I’m trying to make my iPhone 6S+ last a little longer, at least until they unveil the newest models this year. So far I’ve replaced my battery and had H deep clean my ports/microphone with his teeny tools. My battery life is way better now but I pretty much can’t use my speakerphone and today my headphones gave out. So I’m thinking something is wrong deeper into the phone hardware maybe?
It seems like when I use the phone holding it to my face people can hear me just fine. But FaceTime/Speakerphone/plugged in apple headphones don’t work reliably and I cut in and out.
Anyone had similar issues or know what might be wrong?
Oh my headphones, do you give it a try with a cheap pair from the dollar store, because it might be the headphones themselves
I’ve used several different pairs of the apple provided headphones and they all have the problem. H’s bluetooth headphones don’t though, which is why I’m thinking it could be something hardware related
ETA also when I use it connected through my car it is fine. Idk if that is via bluetooth or the lightning connector since I always plug it in
Thanks for the careful interpretation of many typos.
Sounds like there might be still a dirty connector in the port then since (most) cars connect to phones via Bluetooth rather than via the lightning cable.
Alternately, it’s possible something was damaged when the phone was opened up to change the battery?
What did he use to clean it? A guide I read online recommended wood toothpicks or something similar shape made of hard plastic rather than metal to avoid scratching the contacts.
Entirely possible. H replaced it and he’s done his own battery replacement but he’s also not a pro at it either. Also it’s an old phone so there’s a chance I’ve just damaged it somehow. It is definitely time for a new phone, but since I keep them until they start falling apart I want to get the latest model I can so I’m trying to stretch it out until September (or whenever apple releases them this year).
Also so that my business can pay for it, I need to collect a few more invoices before I can shell out.
He builds PCs and has the ifixit tools for phones that have the special tips to not scratch or conduct, so whatever those are
Totally get it, but Apple devices in general can last a long time. Until very recently we still had a perfectly functional 5c.
If I didn’t have my own businesses where I work entirely remotely 99% of the time but have frequent client phone calls and video meetings requiring that my phone be working this wouldn’t bother me.
Today in the middle of talking contract details with a client it completely dropped out and it was definitely my phone, not a connection issue. This is not the first time it’s happened. So from that perspective I can’t keep it going like I would if it were strictly personal use.
ETA in the same vein given that my client work is social media, and newer phones can use features that mine currently can’t, plus updated camera and all that it is just getting to be time. Outside of the business these features don’t matter. But if I want clients to hire me I do need to be closer to the top of the range.
Makes a lot of sense. The cameras alone are a HUGE upgrade. I am jealous of whichever X series model my wife has.
You guys should come visit me and H should bring his tools, because I’m pretty sure the connector port in my iPhone is dirty or something, too. (Actually we should plan another get-together now that the kiddos are a bit bigger!)
Oooh he would love that! And me too! Except he gets nervous about other people’s devices since they’re so stupid expensive now he worries about breaking them. If he broke mine I was in the same position of already needing a new one since my battery needed to be constantly plugged in to hold any kind of charge.
I’m excited for Bobbin to start walking more confidently. She’s allllllmost there but still only walks well if specifically directed “can you go pick up your coat?” or if no one is watching. Then she will have a bigger world to explore and more kids to play with as someone who can now walk and interact that way
Do you know where I can find the technical manual for an old Singer 784 sewing machine? (not the user manual, I already have it)
I have found this screenshot but I can’t find the whole manual:
Contact repair shops in your area? Or check eBay?
Search “engineers manual” + make/model. That’s what it’s called for my Juki machines
If one were theoretically asked to take over as manager of a large family trust (both, large in the monetary sense and in the number of people effected sense) upon the cognitive decline or death of the current manager, how would this person approach learning what is required to do this effectively and such?
Is there an attorney acting as legal advisor? Could you get a copy of the trust (and any historical activities under the trust) you could take to an attorney your choosing?
Does the family get along? Any long-standing grudges / feuds/ rifts? Any next gen people coming into play?
