It’s very similar to potatoes. I usually set them on steam for 2-4 minutes in the IP, longer if I’ve cut them into bigger pieces, shorter if the pieces are smaller. I eat the skins and don’t peel.

I like the IP because I live at altitude and it takes forever for them to boil here. They also tend to boil over and make a big mess, and that doesn’t happen in the IP at all.

I just went through downsizing and sold stuff through Nextdoor, FB Marketplace and Craigslist.

I got the most interest in stuff on FB Marketplace. I was targeted by a Zelle scammer (pretty obvious), and a number of people didn’t have cars and were trying to coordinate drivers so it sometimes felt like a bunch of drama if someone was actually going to show up.

A few people responded via Nextdoor and were more reliable about showing up, but I had far less interest on ND.

I may have sold one thing on Craigslist? Mostly I got emails from scammers.

I have minimal presence on FB and @Bracken_Joy probably wouldn’t do busines with me because my profile is so sparse. I put up a picture just to sell things, I do have friends on FB but I pretty much never, ever post anything.

It’s not that I require all those things, just if somebody has none of those factors then I pass over it. One friend, brand new profile, no indication that they’re actually local, they’re probably a scammer I’m gonna tell me that they’re in London and need to get my cell phone number.

Not picking on you! I think it is very smart. I did not do that kind of checking and I wonder if it would have weeded out the Zelle scammer.

I just bought a battery backup and solar charger (it’s Prime Day and I got a discount even though I bought it direct!), because summer is here and that means hurricanes and I have a dog who is diabetic and needs insulin (which much remain refrigerated). I’ve been thinking about getting a generator or something for some time, because losing power in summer from hurricanes and in winter from blizzards is not infrequent here (lots of trees and overhead power lines). This is a “budget” compromise, since, although it was pricy, a whole house generator is $$$. And I got a discount because I procrastinated so long. :joy:

I’d like to get a small powered refrigerator/cooler to use with this in the event of a power outage. It doesn’t have to be big (really just needs to accommodate the insulin and maybe some half and half for coffee ) at minimum. There are tons of options, especially for camping/RVing etc. Does anyone have any personal recommendations? Just needs to be reliable.

Anyone have experience sending clothes TO thredUP and how long it took for them to process? I took it to USPS on 7/2, and it’s not even at the processing facility yet, and once it gets there, they say there’s an 8 week process time!! I know that working with online consignment is definitely playing the long game, and I wouldn’t have done it this way if I needed money or credit or whatever, but woof.

Maybe @MonkeyJenga have you done this? Or have you only bought from thredUP?

I’ve done it! It was a few years ago though and their processing times were a lot shorter. I sent in my bag and I want to say within 2-3 weeks they had processed everything? I had them donate what they didn’t want to keep, because I didn’t want to pay for shipping to get it back, and then the clothes/shoes went on the website. One thing sold right away and the others took awhile until they eventually didn’t sell at all and were donated. You only get paid when the item actually sells.

The last time I tried to do it was maybe 9-12 months ago when we were packing stuff to sell the old house. They said processing times were outrageously long, like 12+ weeks, so I decided I didn’t care and just gave it all away on buy nothing.

Ah innnnteresting. I decided to do it as an experiment, thinking at least whatever doesn’t sell will be donated which is what I would have done with it anyway. Hopefully this ends up being worth at least the time it took me to get the package out the door!

I’ve only bought from them. I looked into it earlier into the pandemic and they were saying 6-8 months to process, and I didn’t want to deal with it. Most of my clothes wouldn’t have been accepted anyway.

Has anyone tried Siete food products? Specifically the almond flour tortillas?

Yes! I love everything they make. The almond flour tortillas are really good. You definitely want to fry them up before eating, not too long though because they will get a little crispy

The grain free tortilla chips are super good, especially the lime flavor and fuego flavor They also make these churro strips which are incredibly good, but more of a seasonal item.

I just picked up their Mexican wedding cookies at Costco and they are 10/10 delicious. I’m lucky that Costco tends to carry a bunch of their products in rotation, including the almond flour tortillas which are a really good deal there.

Oh! Their enchilada sauces and hot sauces are good too, for something easy and convenient. I prefer my homemade, but in a pinch they are quite good!

The tortilla chips with cassava flour hit my gut like a semi truck :see_no_evil: I do NOT have a low fiber diet, either.

I’m planning on starting with just the almond flour tortillas!

I had this same reaction to the tortilla chips. The almond flour tortillas are pretty good.

That is good to know! Costco sells the tortillas and I’ve been scared of them now haha

I was also scared about trying their other products, but then I went to a friend’s house for lunch and she had bought the tortillas “especially for me”, so I had to eat one (and all was good).

No one, I guess?

I don’t have any experience with them. But some of them look pretty decent. Sorry I’m not more help!

Complete ignorance here, sorry!

I always kept frozen bottles of water in the freezer to put with Cat’s insulin in case of outages. I’d set a frozen 2-liter (or two) in the fridge right next to the insulin when bad weather approached.
