The current Congress cannot, because to get something passed they’d have to have enough spine to suspend the filibuster. Senators like Manchin want to rant about SCOTUS yet he could have enshrined it into law.

That said, AFAIK such a federal abortion rights law could still be struck down by SCOTUS.

I also saw a Twitter post where a congressperson is proposing term limits of 18 years on SCOTUS justices.

I feel like if the President is limited to 8 so should everybody else. And justices on the supreme court should be decided by ballot like how we vote for the President. But that’s a fucking pipe dream.

We have to have a constitutional amendment; nothing less will stand at this point. Wouldn’t hurt to re-ratify the ERA while we’re at it so that maybe they’ll decide it counts this time. But the ERA won’t do this for us alone. Going to have to spell out a right to privacy in the constitution and include reproductive rights and right to love who we love explicitly as examples.

I asked Nanny once why this country was run by idiots. She deadass looked me in the eye with her cigarette in hand and said ‘shit floats honey’.

Yeah. My state directly elects its Supreme Court for 10 year terms. No term limits though. Not sure about other states.

I am too, and it’s been so long I’m not even sure if it was the same one as you. Probably not. It’s been like 3-4 years since I’ve been on it.

Thanks! I have an Uber eats coupon for 75% off my order, up to $20. It’s a horrible math word problem that results in cheap food.

I always use percentagecalculator.com for that kind of math.
