That was a rad dad
I did not know the White of Strunk and White was E.B. White.
If I had an upstairs kobo and a downstairs sofa kobo, would they sync my library books?
Kindle does, so probably kobo does, too?
If your library uses Overdrive, yep, it syncs automatically after you check out the ebook. But if your library changed to using Libby, not so easily. At least for me it hasn’t worked yet using Adobe Digital Editions and Libby and Kobo apps on my computer and phone to try to get them to show up on my actual Kobo
USian peeps, any recommendations on where to order a medical bracelet? I’d forgotten just how bad being late on a dose of venlafaxine was until I woke up in the middle of the night because I started feeling the room spin and had mild hallucinations .
Any ideas for nice things to do for the nurses who are taking care of my dad? They have been really good and kind and have dealt with a lot of stuff from him (pulling off his ostemy pouch and getting feces everywhere, getting naked, pulling off his catheter, etc.)
I’ll write them a note saying thank you, but I was wondering if some kind of goody basket or snacks or something would be appropriate to include? And if so, what might be a good idea? My dad isn’t being discharged yet, so it’s not like a parting gift.
Yes! Snacks are always well loved. What I did for my labor based on my time as a CNA and student nurse in hospital- I did individually sealed stuff, I went to Costco and got Via coffee packs and Madeline cookies and taped one of each together with one sided stick tape. We got a LOT of thanks for it, I wanted something people could grab and go if they were busy, and stuff that would still be good for night shift (the stale pizza shift).
I dropped off some goodies at one point, everything was individually wrapped. Those 100 calorie things of nuts, individually wrapped chocolates, mint candies, and chips. I think there was a buy one get one sale the week I went so my budget went further than I expected. The chocolates and mints were easy for them to eat quickly and then pop their mask back on since they are still masking at all times.
Trying to roll a small amount (like $300) from a 401k I started contributing to RIGHT before the pandemic happened and I lost that job into my Roth IRA. I see that I am supposed to get the forms I need to do this from the “Plan Administrator” – the 401k is through ADP and their website has literally NOTHING about who to contact, and every email I have from them is a do not reply with no indication that there is any real way to contact them. Is the “Plan Administrator” just… my old boss? (this was a small retail company - there’s not like a finance administration team or whatever) I feel silly asking, but I don’t want to pester him unless he is actually the person I need to pester
Liking this one so far:
Yes you have to pester him. The Plan Administrator is the person at your company who is responsible for the 401k. ADP cannot be the Administrator, they’re just the provider. He should have the forms available.
Thanks! I don’t know what about it didn’t feel like it matched up. Probably that the current, even smaller company I work for has a MUCH more clear setup re. who to go to about things like this.
I don’t have a food processor but I do have a blender and one of those Magic Bullet things. Can I make cauliflower rice with those?
Probably not.
Jeez kid kicking me and making me post early.
Probably will purée before chunking and you’ll end up with a wet mess. But you can pulse small batches and try.
In what accent with this rhyme? The first line is “over in the meadow”
ETA I found there’s a QR code on the book and a video that goes with. It just. Doesn’t rhyme smoothly like the rest of the book apparently lol.
A grater will work.
Baby’s first “English is a MESSED UP language” lesson?
Ugh, I’m not sure which is worse in children’s books, near-rhymes or books that rhyme but don’t scan. (I’m looking at you, Antiracist Baby.)
