I have a slew of “bus stop books” and “checkout lane books” on mine that aren’t winning any awards but they’re perfect mental fluff for short bursts of reading.
I read once that there’s a way to check out digital library books even if your library doesn’t offer them. If I remember while I’m at a computer tomorrow I’ll try to look it up.
Does anyone know if anyone needs a good enough phone? Old phone will need a new home eventually. Battery isn’t amazing and some complaints about picture quality. It also isn’t purple
I need a boob dinner plate. Just like, flesh colored most of the plate with a nipply color in the middle. I can’t find one with my limited internet powers. Where can I get one? Or how can I paint an existing plate so it’s still food-safe? I’m gonna make a cake shaped like a boob and put it on the boob plate so when you eat it it’s a FLATTER BOOB.
I found permanent food safe ceramic paint, or paint pens are available from art stores or craft stores. It is set by baking in an oven, so the plate needs to be oven safe. The end result can be damaged in a dishwasher or with a scrubber, so it has limits.
I have a side-by-side (French doors) fridge and my only complaint is that it is hard to store large things, particularly in the freezer as it is not wide enough.
Definitely not doing side by side, I’ve never liked that style and I don’t need much freezer space upstairs to be honest since we have several chest freezers.
Edit: I might do a French door one with bottom freezer but I’m not sure whether I think French doors are better because they swing out less or more annoying because you’re almost always opening two doors. No clearance issues with our current kitchen layout and clearance will be even better when we remodel.
I like the bottom freezer because it puts the refrigerator contents (which I use more often) at eye level. Less bending. I have French doors on top an have found with good fridge organization I rarely open both doors at once (except to get to the cheese drawer, which spans the whole width - why??). But one or two doors on top is not a big deal either way.
My strong opinion is that, unless you have terrible water and will change the filter as scheduled, in-door water and ice disposal is a waste of real estate and just one more thing that can leak and be a disaster. If you want the water, some new fridges have just water dispensers inside, vs the giant water and ice ones that take up so much space in the door.
Yeah no desire for any water related parts (including ice maker).
Reading reviews though is so bizarre. Even on models that average 4.5+ stars there are so many abysmal reviews too. I guess that’s just a hazard of mass produced things?
Leaning towards just getting a nicer looking top-freezer like we already have, because that design is just so much simpler from a mechanical and electrical perspective.
Selection bias. Only people that hate their appliances review their appliances. it’s the case for washers, dryers, dishwashers, fridges; all that stuff. Most reviews are people complaining, for any brand of any appliance.
I love the freezer on the bottom with a drawer. So much easier to organize and find things and I find I can fit more on, including a half sheet pan of stuff just set on top! I also think a lot of the default appliances in the US are too big, and we do just fine with a 30" fridge even though the default in the US seems to be 36".
The comment about reviews reminds me I should go review our appliances. I LOVE our stove (GE induction) and dishwasher (Bosch 500 series). Our Fridge is great too (whirlpool french door fridge). Haven’t reviewed any of them.
