It’s been a while since I’ve worn SmartWool, but Feetures makes good wool ankle length socks (other heights as well). I want to say roughly the same price range as Smart Wool? They stay in place really well for hiking/running. https://feetures.com/products/merino-cushion-no-show-tab
I wear pretty much only Darn Tough. I have one pair of Smartwool that I got at a thrift store, but I don’t like it nearly as well. I have four pair of Darn Tough that rotate, but one is on my feet if I’m wearing shoes that aren’t sandals. I keep wanting to try out the warranty it they keep going strong (four years for the older two pair, I think).
The Smartwool are the backup plan if I get really lazy about laundry, which doesn’t happen too often since I don’t wash after every wear.
Excellent, now I have brands to check out, thank you very much everyone!
Also, @katscratch are the ones you are talking about the 4-pack “trail sock” (couple of different designs and color schemes)?
Probably! These are the exact patterns of the last pack I bought at Costco:
Cool, thanks!
Favorite dairy free, soy free snacks from Trader Joe’s? Ideally with some redeeming nutritional value haha. Bonus points for easy to grab/eat while managing a baby. Thanks guys!
I love the peanut butter filled pretzels, and I’m pretty sure they shouldn’t have soy? Also a bit fan of simple things like dried mango slices, and their trail mixes (some of which may have soy/dairy), especial the omega one with cranberries and walnuts and such.
RX Bars. I know the blueberry and pumpkin and I think cashew cookie (if I’m remembering the name rightly) were compliant with a diet I was doing that eliminated a lot of things in addition to soy and dairy. Have some water handy when you eat them though, they’re chewy.
Haha I am so sick of Rx bars but I should definitely try more flavors! That’s a good idea.
I’ll look for the pretzels! I like the fruits and omega trail mix too- sad I can’t have the m and m style stuff anymore though lol.
Thanks guys.
I am having a moment with seaweed snacks. Maybe not that filling but I like to tell myself they have vitamins! I think they just have 3 ingredients – seaweed, sunflower oil, salt. I haven’t tried them myself, but I know some people really like the Contemplates Inner Peas (crunchy baked pea snack), and from Googling they appear to be dairy and soy free.
I hesitated on posting because I felt like RX Bars were low hanging fruit (er, pun not intented) but the only other things I could think of were even more obvious like bananas.
I definitely like the Inner Peas.
TJs also has some good nut mixes, in addition to the dried fruits and trail mixes. I love the coconut cashews.
Also putting in a word for their dried mandarin slices, that stuff is better than a lot of candy.
I like their plantain chips. There’s a picture of a monkey on the packaging, which I think is a bonus.
almost all the snacks had “May contain dairy”. Since it’s protein as a concern, I have to be incredibly strict. Very few options.
I do love their plantain chips, and happily they aren’t “may contain”! Hallelujah.
I don’t have a TJs on my grocery route at the moment, so I’m useless for prepackaged stuff, but do they have any fruit plate things (you’re not into raw veggies, right)? Or sushi wraps? I can’t think of anything good besides plain nuts and fruit that wouldn’t have additives or potential dairy contamination
I’m addicted to the dried mango (unsweetened/unsulphured) from TJ’s. But it is basically candy.
They have a wonderful amount really. premade salad dressings, some of their chip type items, a lot of their dairy alternative items. So it’s still good, just the protein level of avoidance means I have to do a loooot of label reading. Which isn’t easy with an infant in tow who is on a strict feeding schedule. Life on hard mode.
I think it’s hard with just me!
Do you maybe have the energy to make two ingredient cookies? Bananas and rolled oats, then add amendments of your choice (mine are almost always raisins and cocoa – does cocoa have dairy?)
