One thing to consider if this is in a taxable account-- you will need to pay taxes on the dividends even if they are rolled right back into more shares of the fund. For that reason, some people prefer putting dividend funds in their tax-advantaged retirement accounts rather than in their taxable accounts.

I thought about this after I posted. I wasn’t sure how having dividends in a tax advantaged account would play out. But if it’s better to do it that way, I can wait until January and put them in my Roth IRA. However, the point is also sort of to be able to generate income before I can withdraw funds through the “normal” channels (like, not including Roth conversions) so that I can quit again in less than 5 years. So I don’t know???

Okay, since people are talking about warts… I have a small bump on my middle finger-- have had it maybe a year or so. I’ve been wondering if it is a wart as I’ve never had one before. It’s not painful and it appears slightly lighter in color than the surrounding skin. I haven’t done anything with it. What do you think?

Sorry for giving you the finger, but here’s a photo which shows it:

Has anyone here used planoly? I just tried and I think I broke my Instagram signing up. Is the free version ever worthwhile?

OK, thanks! Now, do you know if this changes the settings for other readers, or just for what happens when I click links on the one machine? I’m looking to be able to send off a giant interlocking set of PDF files on a flash drive and have it behave consistently. One of the less-fun things about my job…

I’m not sure exactly what your question is… but I do have experience with funds that provide dividends. If you can re-phrase the question, I can try to answer or admit ignorance.

We have a convertible fridge/freezer. At the end of winter, when we’ve used up most of the stored produce, we don’t need the freezer. In early spring, soon after, we suddenly acquire a glut of fresh produce. By July say, when I start putting aside tomatoes again, I’m desperate for freezer space, and so we swap it again.

When we discovered such things existed, I knew it was what I really wanted, but thought it was too steep for the budget. We lived with our side by side fridge/freezer for another year or two and then DH found a deal that put the convertible within our reach.

Before we got that, we had a used, commercial deep freeezer, which leaked cold air no matter what was done to it. We got it on Craig’s List and used it as a “trial balloon” to see if we would use that much freezer space for the idea I had for the veggies. We did, but it was a total PITA, needing defrosting all the time because of the leak and making foods into icebergs if they were in the wrong place in the box.

The commercial freezer idea was two fold: it was cheap and commercial fridge/freezers are made to be repaired, otherwise restaurants, etc won’t buy them. We’d had our new first Kitchen Aid die, 6 weeks after we got it, then be up/down for another 6 months, before they replaced it. Never Kitchen Aid again here! Never. We got to know our local repair shop and their “customer service” people all too well.

For our $, the convertible was the best solution. So far, it works. My problem is inevitably, when the freezer is stuffed, I find myself wanting more fridge space, and vice versa. (Human beings are just weird, yes?)

The convertible is a Denby.

Stylish friends, where are we with skinny jeans

I don’t care what others do, only for myself! I married someone hot and stylish and am just trying to keep up.

They are not quite dead as far as I can tell. seems like all styles are in play now - I see skinny, bootcut, flare, wide leg, high rise, mid rise, low rise, paper bag….,

They’re out. Silhouette changes take longer to spread everywhere (than more minor trends I mean) but they’re definitely out. Flares, boot cut, wide leg, bell bottom, straight boyfriend are all in.

That doesn’t look like any wart I’ve had fwiw!

What silhouettes are you seeing that you like with oversized sweaters? This is my biggest sticking point.

Right so wide leg high waist would work with that as would high waist bell bottom or high waist boot cut IMO. I also think most of the oversized stuff is cropped right now so that might help. I’m also seeing oversized sweaters with short skirts a lot. Like only a couple inches of skirt showing.

Thanks @AllHat! Appreciate that.

Oh andI predict a comeback of belts. You could def try belting a big sweater with boot cut jeans. I think that would be hot in a 70s way.

Not stylish, under 30, but love skinny jeans since I experienced their first wave of popularity in like 2008-9 I guess? I will never not wear them. Also, as far as vintage fashion I’m stuck on the 60s skinny mod pants as well. I think anything you would want to wear could look great as long as you feel connected to the clothes and style whether through mood or reference. I feel like the fashion world is SO diverse now that if you decide exactly what you want you can easily find it just about anywhere. The Zoomer popular styles may be more front and center with certain retailers but basically anything goes. If you want your bases covered for an overall vibe of relaxed and respectable Millennial in touch with youth I’d just copy Madewell. They will probs be putting the most on trend jeans on the mannequins but I think they still sell skinnies that would look up to date anyway. I feel like the spandexy materials they use for skinnies now have been updated and you can tell if a pair is fresh or from like 2015 lol. I also think washes had changed so much in recent years that it factors in a lot for looking “on trend”

This is giving me ideas, thanks! I bought some pants from Madewell that I could have sworn were straight leg but turned out to be skinny when they came in the mail, and I like all of their other elements (color, waist height, length etc). I just need to find the same pants in less skinny. Shopping! A nightmare.

Don’t tempt me! With my hair I am already toeing that line. I WILL go full 1970s Aspen ski bunny with very little encouragement.

Girl me too. I feel like we can dream ever since thick eyebrows came in. That felt like some kind of revenge meant just for me to enjoy, especially after years of plucking my lush forehead farm into oblivion.
