I would probably cut a circle around the stem first, and dig out the stuff in the center as if I’m making a jack-o-lantern. Then I’d run the knife through the side and pull it down and around until it was cut in half. If you don’t have the strength to pull your chef’s knife through your could swap it for a really big serrated bread knife and gradually saw your way around. Sometimes it can also help to get the item lower, so maybe try cutting it on your dining table instead of your kitchen counter, or the floor even works! More leverage.

Brilliant, I shall try all these ideas.

I forgot that I am actually too short to get leverage on my kitchen bench :woman_facepalming:t2: I am so looking forward to my short one after we renovate…

Texas abortion law

Please, no one do any extra emotional labor on this. But if you know of any good organizations helping people in Texas who need abortions, I’d love to know about them and how best to support them.

I feel like it’s almost dangerous to ask that. What is this world?

I already donate to planned parenthood.

Sometimes using a smaller but very sharp knife helps, versus a thicker knife like a chef’s knife. The lowest resistance way is to stab it to get the knife in, then slice down and around in a circle to get it in half.

I’ve seen posts on Facebook listing several Texas specific groups but I don’t personally know anything about them.

I bought some garden weed barrier fabric and the weeds are just using it for traction lol. (cheaper is not better!) For some reason my mom has some that is plastic, can I use that? I’ve only seen the fabric kind. I can also look for thicker fabric if that’s recommended. It’s only going to go around a few plants by the bird feeders.

It all sucks.

You can … but … we put down black plastic trash bags when we were solarizing at one point, a little bit of dirt was blown on top by the wind and then some weed seeds tried to grow on that. Also there’s areas in our yard that I know if we dig down a couple inches I’ll hit the black plastic a former owner put down as weed barrier, there’s a very healthy layer of plants (including weeds) growing in the dirt that’s accumulated over that, so now I just have black plastic as part of my yard forever.

Putting down paver bricks is the best solution I’ve found but the weeds just grow up in between the pavers, and the bricks might not be good for the root system of the plants you actually like.

Bah. But I have to do something, the birdseed weeds are as tall as the plants! They were actually growing in the barrier fabric a bit. I could probably use the cheap stuff in between the plants and just pull it up a couple times a summer and get rid of the weeds that way, it would be easier. I looked into the no mess seed and it’s super expensive.

You can put down a layer of cardboard and some mulch over that to hide the cardboard. I’d recommend using a shovel to sort of scoop the top layer of soil then flipping it upside down so the stems/leaves are on the bottom and the roots are exposed to the air, plants aren’t super keen on that so that’ll discourage them from trying to keep growing up through the cardboard, which should eventually break down and become part of the soil. Cardboard every few months would be better than plastic every few months.

I can do that! I dug up all the seed/weeds/mulch last night so I can start new again.

Thank you!

Good place to buy small containers like little bottles and jars?

For what application? IKEA and my recycling bin haha. (Oui yogurt containers!)

Oh right, that matters. So two purposes, one style for pills so I can keep them on my counter without seeing the prescription bottle. I also want some for shaving oil that I make myself, like with a dropper or squeeze top for easy application.

I’ve gotten the dropper bottles from Amazon but then you get 12…or sometimes health stores and pharmacies have them near the essential oils. I bet a compounding pharmacy would have them. For pills… Mine would be a jam jar for a month supply or a 1L mason jar for the three month refill. Fancy jams have fancier bottles. For buying new (and only having like a week’s worth out), I’d get a small flip top seal from Ikea or the dollar store. There are also cute cork top bottles at Michaels and dollarama.

If you hypothetically bought yourself and your child each egg bites, and he saw them but then fell asleep, would it be best to
Not eat his
Eat one of his two
Est both if his

Assuming you already hypothetically finished yours
