I like stamped concrete but I don’t know how well it lasts long term. I also don’t know if it would work as well as a foundation when you screen it in the future.

I painted our porch floor with garage paint (not regular paint, garage paint has some grit to it so it won’t be slippery). I think you’re in a snowy climate though so I have no idea how paint would hold up for that. I agree with just doing a rug and patio furniture.

Does anyone know how long it usually takes for estate lawyers to send out documents? I am supposed to receive info from about a month ago.

It might be worth following up. My aunt had the wrong address listed for me and I had to correct it multiple times.
As for how long, it depends. One of the first steps was getting the personal representative (executor) set by the court. Some are faster than others and Covid meant some delays.

Does anyone have these caged bird feeder or suet feeders? I have the bottom kind of feeder and like it because you can adjust the tension so I want another. They are expensive though so I was looking for a different option. My question about the caged ones is whether medium size birds like woodpeckers or cardinals can still use them? My goal is to keep the many Grackles out because they eat so much!

TL;Dr: double-check that your contact info is correct with executor of will, but 1 month is not too long.

Usually it is the assigned executor who sends that stuff out, not the lawyers, unless lawyer was assigned as executor. Maybe reach out and see who that person is?
I will caveat to say that how quickly stuff gets sent out can vary widely depending on will language and what other estate business needs to be wrapped up before contacting designated heirs/apportioning out funds…etc. Technically executors have a fiduciary duty to all the beneficiaries and should also be keeping them well informed of matters related to the estate. Uhh… That doesn’t always happen.

I was the executor of my mom’s will. Some deadlines might be set by the state, but I assume that extensions can be gotten. One of the things I had to do was inventory her “estate”

  • everything. Household goods, property, other obvious assets (bank accounts…) with an estimated / actual value.
Depending on the persons estate, this could be pretty time consuming.

Has anyone had success with growing beans for year round dried beans? How many pounds per plant? I might soon join the gardening section of the forum and I want to know if this should be a goal

If you have a Wild Birds Unlimited, they sell a nice cage and birdfeeder setup that seem to work really well. They’re a little pricy, but we have 3, and the squirrels can’t get in. The flickers and smaller woodpeckers are still able to get their heads in to eat. The grackles don’t bother, usually, unless we have suet.

I did a few dry beans, planted late, last year, and got maybe 1/4 cup from 2-5 plants depending on variety. I am expanding my dry bean efforts this year because I have leftover seed, but in terms of space/money/harvest, it’s not the most efficient to do at the home level. Unless you’re doing fancy varieties that you can’t buy at the grocery store - but like plain pinto beans or black beans or even chickpeas, I wouldn’t probably bother.

That said, you’re inspiring me to measure harvest per plant this year!

I refuse to spend in game. I will pay for a fully paid game without In App Purchases because I believe that developers need to be paid and this is an honest way of rewarding effort. I hate the way gaming has gone down the ‘grind forever’ vs ‘just $1 for 10 more stars’ road. And how this has affected games.

I grew enough black beans to last a year. I planted them everywhere I could and only harvested some because squirrels are assholes and it was lots. A very easy project.

I am planting more dry beans this year because they’re easy to grow. I still haven’t finished threshing my ones from last year or even cooked with them yet though

I’m growing mostly black beans and a couple heirloom beans that are supposed to be good for baked beans, which is one of our favorite ways to eat them.

I am getting red marks left behind when I take band-aids off. (Not immediately—they show up an hour or two later.) The box says they’re not made of latex so I guess this isn’t a latex allergy—could it be the adhesive?

Pictures under the cut

This one is from about a week ago, so the marks have been fading.

This scratch is from last night and I took the band-aid off this morning. Sorry for the potato quality picture.

It’s a little itchy but lotion helps.

It’s weird that it’s an outline of the bandaid, rather than more filled in reaction to everywhere the adhesive touches.

I get this too - also in outline shape. I’ve been assuming it was adhesive related but maybe it’s not. :woman_shrugging: I didn’t react to band-aids as a kid but I did/still do react to a lot of cosmetics.

Ask vs Guess culture (I like that I have words for this now!)

Kiddo’s birthday is coming up. My family is very much a guess culture. Is there a way I can nudge them towards buying certain things Kiddo would actually like and we would use (mention stuff in a phone call, send an Amazon link to a wish list) without it being too pushy/entitled “Get this thing for my kid”.
