Happens to me and it sucks

This appears to have happened to the second smallest toe on my left foot sometime this weekend, probably from wearing sandals rather than actually trying to use the toe for anything, since I didn’t. It’s super annoying. Also happens with fingernails sometimes

Can anyone ID these plants?

The first one makes me think vetch - pea family, Fabaceae - maybe Yellow Banner Flower?

Do you have a closer photo of the first? I can’t tell what leaves are associated with the flowers. And do you have a further out photo of the second? It’s reminding me of sagebrush but that isn’t right, it’s something high desert and my brain just isn’t placing it right now.

I only took one photo of each, sorry

The first one is I think Golden currant (Ribes aureum), aka Buffalo currant. Info sheet here.

Ribes have a complicated history here in the northeast, but I think I need one.

Those are pretty yellow flowers.

I helped!

Oooh neat!

Thanks, I’ve been trying to get info on stuff that grows in parks with little human intervention so I can trust it to mostly not die if I stick it in my yard.

(Full disclosure I sent your picture to my mama cuz I couldn’t remember the name bitterbrush :joy:)

The leaves are very similar but I don’t think bitterbush has tubular flowers.

The second looks like forsythia to me. Though forsythia flowers are pretty uniformly yellow and yours seem to be orange in the middle.

I am disappointed that no one has a suggestion for pain relief, but comforted to find that it doesn’t just happen to me!

It seems like this should have a name. I tried to google it but was too horrified by the descriptions of nail injuries that I read to go further :no_good_woman:t2:

… so, this is insignificant and I am not necessarily worse off because of this but… have an induction cooktop and have never cooked on it with anything besides enamel coated cast-iron.
Recently, I was gifted a stainless steel sauce pan, does work on my induction cooktop but it makes a very high-pitched whistling sound.
WHY?
I wiped it off to make sure there were no water air bubbles or anything and it continued to make a high-pitched noise while I cooked my breakfast this morning.

Anyone have any ideas why it’s doing this?

Husband says:
Basically just some resonance due to the shape/size/weight of the pan, the vibrations cause noise. More common with cheaper induction cooktops and less magnetic pans. Not a problem, just annoying.

Interesting!
It’s definitely a cheap induction cooktop although it has really served me well. the pan is fancy pants/nice so I guess it’s just a combination.
