I didn’t believe this was a real place when my wife first started talking about it. But apparently that’s where she did most of her christmas shopping when she was in high school. There’s some strangely named towns 'round these parts…
Now I’m kinda wishing I still had family in KoP-land. I last shopped there in 2006.
I cooked beans from dry seven days ago. Is it safe to turn them into chilli today, or do I need to start again?
My understanding for both beans and rice: Start again. The bacteria that are a concern produce spores, so heat doesn’t prevent the sickness they can cause. You dont want to push your luck on them.
Yeah, I would use it after 3 or 4 days maybe, but not a whole week, especially if it has just been refrigerated the entire time (instead of reheated to boiling every day).
I’d eat them personally.
What is a good countertop material in a kitchen?
I’ve only had formica. It’s been fine, but I want to know about other materials.
Not butcher block. It takes too much care.
My parents renovated their kitchen and used Cambria for the countertops- I don’t know if It’s a budget-friendly option, but it’s super low maintenance and very, very sturdy.
Any sort of stone that doesn’t require sealing, like quartz/silestone or materials like Corian would be something I’d consider. Or even stainless steel but I think that’s pricey? Dunno.
Quartz. It’s lovely, more sustainable than granite (Not a Slab extraction, it’s a composite from offcuts), and doesn’t need sealed. Modern linoleums also don’t get nearly enough credit IMO.

Whatever the landlord puts in
The second cheapest tier of IKEA
Yeah, there are some gorgeous linoleums out there, but it is inherently less durable.
Cambria is definitely not the most budget friendly, but we sell it everyday. Any brand of quartz will be super durable.
I kinda want to replace mine with recycled glass even though it’s not as long lasting as quartz. But I love it.
Sounds like quartz is a favourite. I’ll go look at some in person soon ish
Is there a way to have a solid colour backsplash? Like a wallpaper or something? I hate grout so much.
Linoleum is your friend here.
I went into a clients house once and they had something like the photo in this link: Solid Backsplash but it was not stone, it was some type of like…resin? Plastic? Honestly I don’t know what it was but it looked SO NICE, looked easy to clean, and was grout-less…just one big slab.
The word I was looking for was not plastic or resin, it was acrylic. I’m a butt cheek who can’t think of words when appropriate.
We have Primark in France too, if you need ideas for your list ^^
I’m going to get a reputation for traveling to fast fashion stores. But really, how amazing are their weather adapting tights and their tank tops?
The UK also has affordable bras at a decent price in my size. And obligatory family visits. So I’m usually very very excited when I ditch family for a day and go shopping. Oddly enough they do the same thing here.
