Aww that’s a bummer! Although you can technically make your own. https://www.thekitchn.com/how-to-make-crispy-roasted-chickpeas-in-the-oven-cooking-lessons-from-the-kitchn-219753 If you can source the field corn and the pickling lime.

Hmm…

There are a couple more places I will try before I resort to that.

Does anyone know anything about real estate auctions? If so could we PM about some things? Redfin just sent me a listing that is in a dream location and it looks like it is an auction starting at a crazy good price. Says the property is recently renovated and I’m trying to figure out why someone would auction a property that should easily sell for 5x more than the starting bid. Looks like they tried to sell it since June of last year and dropped the price over $100k and it never sold (but I think maybe their price was unrealistic?).

From what I can tell it looks like it was purchased in March, renovated for 3 months and then listed for sale at a price that is probably above what that neighborhood could sustain. So aside from being wary of crappy work done in the flip, am I missing something? Because if this is real this would be something we would seriously look into.

Does anyone use an epilator and if so…brand recs?

I have an inexpensive Braun epilator purchased about 20 years ago and it is still going strong! Not sure about the newer models though.
It came with different heads that could be attached to it but I never use them.

I would like to start composting but every time I start researching the topic I become quickly overwhelmed and cannot find a suitable method.

We have a very little garden so the smell is an issue and two little kids who like to “explore”.
Any idea/recommendation?

Bonjour @eny !! That is a great idea!! Have you checked if there are associations doing composting in your area? My SIL who lives in Valence is a member of such association. They provide containers for the scraps and she sends them at their premises where they do the composting. I was telling her the same about the odor and the kids. They have seminars where you learn the basics and she has progressed a lot. She also gets ‘the fertilizer’ for her garden. Seems like a nice compromise when you have little kids or no place for the compost.

Ooh, excellent idea, thank you! I did not know such associations existed. I found one but unfortunately it is only for the residents of Big City :\

Then I discovered my city website had an “idea page” and someone in my neighbourhood asked for collective composting bins!!
So I backed their idea and I hope it will be implemented.

Meanwhile, if anyone has a miracle solution, please share ^^

ETA: we already have a separate bin for compostable trash but we cannot get the resulting fertilizer

Great!! Hope someone backs it up. I also did the search and we don’t have a nearby association. The composting bin is already an improvement; I wish we had it. I think I’ll call the town hall and see if there is some hope on that front.

Several good options for small scale composting. Everything will rot eventually but it’s hard to get decent compost with just a small pile of material because there’s not much thermal mass for decomposition to get going. Some other options to consider:

Worm bin (vermicomposting)
Chickens (if you can have them I can expand more on the details)
Trench composting (burying compostables in a shallow trench directly in the garden)

How long can I expect it to take for a letter put in the mailbox to get from Colorado to Georgia?

Thanks for your suggestions!
Chicken is not really possible right now (and not sure if I am allowed in this city) but I will look into the worm bin option.

My GP did trench composting but it was far from the house and I remember the smell and insects so I can’t see how I could do it in my tiny garden, am I missing something?
