Oh, we’ve been eating the dried unsulphered mango from trader joe’s. It is like toddler crack

Does anyone have any experience replacing a power plug outlet (where you plug it in) on a laptop? I did something terrible to mine and now I have to do terrible things to the plug to get it to make a connection and actually charge, and my laptop is only a year old.

That’s my favorite snack, and I find it to be like adult crack as well.

Costco sometimes has unsweetened, unsulphered dried mango too (and sometimes they do not). The price is roughly the same as the TJs. The texture tends to be a little better (the TJs have occasional duds).

I did this in college (I dropped my laptop off my bed right onto the plug and bent it all out of wack during finals week. It was not great). I ended up sending it to an online repair place that cost less than $100 and was done in about a week. If you have the same thing I did and I remember correctly, you either have to replace the entire motherboard or re solder the power supply port back to the motherboard.

This experience is like 60% of why I switched to a MacBook with the magnetic charging port for my next laptop.

:grimacing::grimacing::grimacing: Yikes!

Yeah, I think it got bent in a fall. :frowning:

Google tells me there is a possibility there may be a harness and I can just replace it plug-and-play style, but I haven’t looked up my model yet. I’m not going to be doing any soldering, unfortunately. I am loathe to send the machine away, because all my data is on it! How do people deal with that? Ugh. I wonder how much a new motherboard is. :upside_down_face:

I think laptop and cell phone repair stores were essential services in wave 7000 here. Maybe for you too?

You might have drop off options? I didn’t have a car so mailing was my quickest option. I do remember it was fast/cheap enough that I got it fixed instead of replacing the laptop, which at that point had plastic bits falling off the corners.

Alternatives to cardpool? They shut down and were my go to.

Solidarity. I’ve just listed $200 in sunglass hut gift cards on Raise. Seems it’s more of an ebay for gift cards than the instant cash of card pool, though.

ETA: If anyone wants $200 in Sunglass Hut gift cards, I am happy to make you a good deal. I almost exclusively wear free promo sunglasses. A $200 pair terrifies me because I know I will lose it the first time out.

I lent several books to my friends and now they all smell of scents. I can’t read my own books. How do I remove the scent from the paper?

I haven’t tried it myself, but I’ve been told ziplock bag, book, and activated charcoal thingies for running shoes.

At my library we put stinky books in a bin with several bags of activated charcoal to de-stink them. It has even worked on books that come back reeking of cigarette smoke.

Is there ever a reason not to appeal a real estate assessment?
I just got my 2021 assessment in the mail and I feel like it was kind of a big jump.

I made salad for dinner last night and realized this morning that I left it out overnight (green leaf lettuce, red bell pepper, cucumber, and tomato). I put it in the fridge just now, but I’m having second thoughts about eating it. It sat out for about ten hours.

On a scale from that’s definitely gonna give you food poisoning to it’s totally fine, should I eat this salad?

If it smells normal, I’d eat it without hesitation.
