Looks like @FIFoFum got you covered! : )
I too, much appreciate a 1:1 play meet up vs the dog park wildcard (and I see people coordinate these on Nextdoor and Facebook all the time in my neighborhood). It’s much easier to monitor and less overwhelming for everyone.
Bringing an on-leash dog into a specifically off-leash area is, in my opinion, nearly as/just as problematic as letting a dog off leash in a leash law area.
Thank you so much for this! There’s a really active cavalier group here so I might seek out some play dates through that. I want to socialize him a ton more. Dog parks are tricky here because either they’re gross apartment complex tiny ones that aren’t cleaned well, or they’re nice, spacious, well kept public ones like the one today, but that means there’s lots of dogs nearly any time you go. We live in a condo so we don’t have a yard he can run free in and I like for him to be able to do that on occasion. I’ll keep trying, I’m sure we can find him some more appropriate playmates
Has anyone done the Citizens bank account opening bonus? I don’t have 15k to put in a new savings account (lmfao) but I wanted to open a checking for the $300. I don’t like that there’s a monthly deposit requirement to wave the checking account fee… seems from the terms that it could just be like transferring $5 in each month though…
I recently bought some lapsang souchong loose from the local coffee roaster (which also has tea, though they obviously don’t process it themselves) and it is not strong enough. Not smokey enough. This is the second time I have tried to get lapsang souchong from a local place (different place the other time) and have been disappointed. Does anyone have a recommendation for good, strong, smokey lapsang souchong? I feel like Twinings has been the best I have had, but I have to believe there is better?
Also looking for pu erh recommendations - Republic of Tea used have a decent one (I think it was Republic of Tea? but this was many years ago now), but the Whole Foods near me never has it, and the only variety they have now apparently includes coconut and I don’t want coconut anyway.(Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy?)
I prefer loose tea, but if the best comes in bags (doubtful) I will accept it.
As I have backed off of coffee consumption my inner tea snob has reasserted itself.
I’ve been down the Google wormhole but I’m wondering if there is one large bank list somewhere of house plants that are toxic to cats?
It would be helpful if there were pictures since I have houseplants but I have no idea what those plants are (often I will just decide I like how something looks, take it home, remove all of the care tags and then I just have a mystery plant)
My kitto has recently shown an interest in a few of my plants
The only one I have successfully kept alive is an orchid, and it is safe from the cats by being on a high, very narrow shelf (too narrow to jump on, plus it is full of crap anyway), though I have been unsuccessful at getting it to bloom again after two freaking years. Not all cats are so bad, but mine will chew on anything vegetative they can reach. I had a spider plant on top of my kitchen cabinets until the Derp discovered one day he could jump that high. Spider plants are ok (I think) but they’ll get the throw ups from eating too many plants, so it had to be relocated to the basement, where it is slowly perishing. If they were plants that didn’t really drop leaves I would hang things from the ceiling for sure! In my case, I am hesitant… if I could be convinced it was drywall and not plaster, or if I could successfully find the lathe strips (my walls are plaster and lathe, can only hang stuff where the lathe is, and I am not sure about the ceiling).
That reminds me - I have occasionally bought/grown cat grass, which is ok for them to eat and some cats are really attracted to. Original Cat and Senior Cat both liked that as a treat occasionally. I haven’t tried it with the kittens, maybe I should!
Spider plants aren’t toxic to cats. We have several. The cats can chew the tips off them but they can never get too much all at once because the plants live in a cage. We tried cat grass but our cat kept ripping it up by the roots so we gave up. Maybe we’ll give it another try and keep it in the cage most of the time so they don’t get a chance to destroy it.
