No blitzing, lol, it’s pancakes. We never did purées, just started her on “real” food.

We’ve discussed it before. He literally lacks the skills. It’s like parallel parking for some people. He knows in theory how it works, but that doesn’t translate to ability. And he just gets frustrated when he tries to learn it.

My husband also has manual dexterity issues that sometimes lead to things like trouble with ziploc bags. He can tie shoes, though he can’t tie his mask behind his head. (But he can do a bowline one-handed because Navy.)

I don’t worry much about air in bags, and he often uses bread bags and twist ties instead of zip bags. (You can buy a box of bread bags for home baking, not just reused ones, though those work too.)

If ever we have a need to use plastic wrap, he comes to get me, because otherwise, he’ll tie himself to the refrigerator with the stuff and have to wait for rescue.

Depending on what size items you need to store, airtight metal tins (the kind with a silicone seal and a latch)? I’ve used them for tea and they’re freezer-safe and pretty hard to get wrong.

do you have a good toaster oven?

And the size of the small non stick pan is surprisingly meaningful for me when it comes to food prep. The big one is just so irritating when the overwhelm is high.

I do not have a toaster oven. My current countertop appliances:

  • KitchenAid mixer
  • Electric kettle
  • Microwave

Can anyone tell me what the non-English lettering here says?

It’s crazy. This man can wire strip things and rewire just about anything without even seeing it. One handed at weird angles in many cases. Plumbing? Sure. Fencing? Why not. Ziplocks? :grimacing: I just… it boggles my mind a little, to be honest. Insanely high click rate for video games too. I think I’m just not used to him struggling with like… anything? But then ziplocks and folding laundry are just beyond him. :woman_shrugging:

:joy: come to think of it, I’m not sure if I’ve ever seen him use plastic wrap

It says “God is dead” in Japanese!
神は死んだ
kami wa shinda

Where is this from?!?!?!

I think all of their designs are worth a look, but this is my favorite!

Should note though that the writing is backwards in the Japanese. If you read it properly for vertical writing it reads “shinda kami wa”, which is more like “the dead god…” (trailing off/cut off) Clearly not the intended meaning tho.

I had a cuisinart griddler (like a george foreman) for YEARS and loved it. I had one of the original ones that was hand wash only plates and interchangeable plates and then gave that to a sister and got dishwasher safe reversible plate version. I probably used it 3-4 times a week for grilling sandwiches, veggies, meat, quesadillas etc. It was awesome and I used it constantly.

We got an induction range about 6 months ago and got rid of the griddler then because the induction heats up so well. Now I have a crepe pan that I use for everything I used to use for the griddler and use it the same way (always out, used constantly). It doesn’t do the grill thing but we eat a lot less meat so that doesn’t matter as much.

I’ve been curious about air fryers - I hear such good things so @Bracken_Joy’s review is disappointing.

I’m also intensely picky about “gadgets”. I hate them, so they have to meet insanely precise standards to earn their space. :woman_shrugging: If you’re a “good is good enough” sort on this kinda thing, you will likely be happy with a good model.

…I am not a good enough is good enough type of person so I think your review is probably accurate for me. :mask:

A close friend’s workplace is renaming a bunch of technical positions. His in particular is going from engineer to either analyst or specialist. Neither are as exciting as engineer (the work would remain the same, just a title change), but specialist sounds particularly janky and analyst is (like i said) less exciting and kind of overused.

So, any other titles for tech folk aren’t quite engineers but sounds cool?
