Oh. I’d probably just leave it then. Cast iron erodes very slowly so it will be ugly but still quite functional.
Angela Davis wrote Are prisons obsolete. It’s about the criminal justice syste., not specifically policing, but if you want some well written radical literature there’s that. I’d offer to mail you my copy bug it stays next to the Marx and Klein so people entering my living room know what kind of house this is.
I see cahoots referenced a lot. The model Eugene Oregon uses for mental health calls. And the CATC- the multnomah crisis center in Portland. Not a holistic model for defunding but could give you a start.
I asked this question in a different place and was recommended anything by her should be at the top of my list. I’ll add that specific one to my list, because I hate the prison-industrial complex already.
Apparently I should have posted in this thread instead of the memes thread. Funny Thing You Saw Today
@druidessie I haven’t read it yet, but I have a book called The End of Policing. It was free from the publisher, Verso Books–I think their model is ebooks are free or cheap, paper books are not.
I have narrow feet and La Sportivas are the BEST. I have a pair of hiking boots that are super lightweight for walking but very comfortable and supportive and have held up great.
This might be a really dumb question, but in my podcasts app (iOS) the most recent OMD episode is from June. Am I looking in the wrong place?
My shampoo is running out.
Anyone have a favorite bar shampoo place to buy from? I’d prefer not Lush, and would be happy to buy from a small maker etc.
I use Seagrape shampoo bars, although they’re local to me so I don’t have to pay shipping: https://seagrapeapothecary.com
oo ty!
Hibar is my fave so far of the few brands I’ve used -they’re local to me so same as krmit w/no shipping
I might be biased towards things local to where you are.
Hmm, I wonder if those fragrances would trip my allergy or not. I don’t think so, as I always liked the old style Garnier Fructis citrus scent before they changed the formula.
Oh, they are definitely not as heavily fragranced as Garnier! It’s noticeable to me but very light (I typically buy unscented everything including plain tallow soap). I don’t tolerate synthetic fragrance at all.
Good to know! I’ll probably give it a shot soon then even though the price seems high to me.
I don’t know how often you use shampoo, but I bought my bar two years ago and still have about an inch left with once weekly use.
Yeah, I know in absolute dollars it’s peanuts, even if all 5 of us switch to it, just the relative price increase.
So far I’m really enjoying my Ethique bar shampoo and conditioner. I asked about bar shampoo over in the Reducing Household waste thread, and a lot of people from Australia recommended them
Also seconding this. I go through bar shampoo very very slowly compared to a bottle. Even when I had long hair, a single bar lasted at least 6 months, and up to a year, with 1-2 showers a week.
I got my shampoo bar from someone local who makes it. Local people who make them are everywhere. Check out stay with the location settings?
