Oh I was gonna answer this ages ago and forgot.

Did your band size change? Common for ribs to expand.

Common for boobs to “deflate”- this esp means if you wore full cup coverage bras, they will likely gap up top now. Even if you’re the same size, a balconette or Demi cup bra may work better. And a lightly boosted/pushed up bra will help move tissue around so it stays in the cup better and doesn’t fall out the bottom so much for a lot of women.

So perhaps expect a change to band size, cup size, AND bra style.

I think it depends. Did you by any chance wear your prepregnancy bras way too long into pregnancy until they were stretched and tattered?

If so, experience tells me you’ll definitely need new bras whether your boobs have changed or not. Mine seem the same to me? I mean it was years between but I think they’re great.

The july bra was up a cup or two and down a band size from may/June. I absolutely couldn’t wear the prepregnancy bras even to the end of first tri. And the cup size is currently right (still feeding) but band was uncomfortable. Although the discomfort = huge support. I think that’s a 30I from change, so I’d be 32H from them or 34F-G from less stretchy brands. So no real change yet from prepregnancy but nipple location assymetry has increased. I’m not sure if I’ll deflate more or not. I definitely need to find the prepregnancy bras, Maybe they are in storage? It did feel really good being supported and attractive for five hours. And at max two daytime feeds these days I’m okay with stripping to nurse. I think the mall with a bra store is open if I’m feeling brave.

I don’t know why but it didn’t occur to me to change bras or underwear in pregnancy until I’d basically ripped holes in them? I definitely needed to change sooner but for some reason it did not occur to me. I’m just not a big new clothes person!

I have my first pair of nice sweats arriving this week which is I think about a year later than most people went big on better at home clothes.

I mean, I didn’t do underwear for the longest time, and just kind of shoved them around in increasingly uncomfortable ways?

The boobs I literally couldn’t do up my bras and had painful welts that wouldn’t go away overnight so I emergency bought old lady bralettes and then those did the same thing and didn’t hide my nipples or support or shape anything. Then I bought a bra on vacation but it didn’t occur to me to buy a prenatal or nursing bra until I was a the fancy store and had a weird deal where I wanted two shirts and needed a third item to get some deal

I am aware this discussion was forever ago, but when I had clogged ducts, soy or sunflower lecithin capsules were MAGIC, I swear.

I took far too many, probably, but it made a huge difference compared to only taking a lot of ibuprofen to reduce swelling and breastfeeding/pumping as much as I could on that side.

Ultrasound therapy for bruising - anyone had it? Recommended? I might be getting a session tomorrow but I’ve not had it before so I’m very nervous.

I’ve had it with much older machines and the nice thing is that it just feels like someone waving a magic wand

I have. They did some warm gel on the skin (like a regular u/s for a baby), and then lightly wave the thing around over the skin. I felt no real improvement (or sensation at all), but it was somewhat relaxing to lie there and have warm gel spread on me.

Not really a question, more of a complaint. My left boob is very delicate about what I can wear. Any perceived pressure, and it develops painful lumps. I remember why I gave up on bras, and now it seems even straps from my singlet (which I can pull all the way down under my boob) are a problem. Hopefully Pumpkin can continue getting them out for me and I’ll give up yet another piece of clothing while my boobs adjust to breastfeeding again.

Anyone have a link to good hand exercises? My knuckles and hands muscles are stiff and sore.

You could look for “finger and wrist CARs” on YouTube if videos are better than a bunch of text - but here’s a page that has a bunch of wrist/fingers things I’ve done (I skimmed it quick to make sure language fits what I’m thinking but not super thoroughly)

Thanks! That should give me something to get started on while I find the contact details for the specialist hand physiotherapist.

I found the contact details and am sitting on it for a couple weeks. My hands do seem to be getting slowly better.

Meanwhile, I’m done with my insides feeling like jelly. I guess that’s also a couple of weeks away from sorting itself out (I’m only 4 weeks postpartum).

I just got my first Moderna shot (yay) and am feeling pretty crummy (boo). Fever, fatigue, sore throat. Is it OK to breastfeed or should I pump and dump until side effects are over?

I’m so sorry you’re feeling lousy.

I am not a medical professional, but all the nurses/LCs I’ve seen discussing it seem to be pretty united in that it is ok to breastfeed through side effects.

Everything I’ve seen says to continue to breastfeed

Thank you! Once I woke up I found this from the CDC which says to continue breastfeed, but is disturbingly vague:

Because non-replicating vaccines pose no risk for lactating people or their infants, COVID-19 vaccines are also thought to not be a risk to the breastfeeding infant.

This OB’s site has a bit more detail:

It is unlikely that the vaccine lipid would enter the bloodstream and reach the breast tissue. If it does, it is even less likely that either the intact nanoparticle or mRNA would get into breast milk. If THAT happens, then it would be digested by the child and would unlikely have any biological effects.

I breastfed. Of course Baby Spore picked last night to cut his first tooth so he was inconsolable for other reasons. And then he perked right up and happily put himself to sleep. Babies, man. So confusing!

Updating you: I’ve just been practicing the finger ones so far and my hands feel amazing after I do them.

I can’t tell if my boobs have sorted themselves out to stop being engorged or my milk supply has dropped off a cliff. Also I could pump a feed (80mL) last week, and this week I cannot. That means I can’t skip a feed in favour of sleep. Also a pain that won’t move.

This is just me complaining about boobs.
