Guys why the fuck is my kid up every night with a runny nose? He has been doing it for like 2 weeks. I’ve reduced allergens as much as possible, he’s on Zyrtec, there’s a cool mist humidifier, saline does nothing.

What the fuck.

I see you say you’ve reduced allergens, but just in case you don’t know about this, are the bed and the pillow in an anti-dustmite bag?

They are not!

The allergist told us that the most important things we could do were pillow protectors and getting rid of the carpet.

You should definitely try that then! I’m allergic to dust mites and that’s what makes the biggest difference for me.

Arggghhh good luck. Allergies suck :weary:

I think…I might have this? Family over and holding him, not time for him to eat yet, but super anxious. We even cleaned the apartment while they were here so my environment, for once, is not stressing me out. Ugh

Talk to your doctor. A SIL has it and didn’t realize it the first round. And it led to some ppd

I had that. Its ROUGH. Happy to talk. Definitely worth checking in with a medical team (doctor, therapist, well informed lactation consultant). When I just had dissociating symptoms this go around I would give Ponder a specific yelp (couldnt always manage to speak) and he would ground me by holding my shoulders firmly. If a physical intervention from Mr Noodle helps it might be worth a go, yours may be specific to you. I dont know what we did for the first time except got me therapy some months later.

(In both cases, it went away as hormones stabilised/ baby got older. I dont have it any more and am still nursing my 1.5+ yesr old, maybe super infrequently)

Man. I’m glad I just had the violent pooping with letdowns.

Sorry noodles, that’s rough  fwiw my let down pooping subsided with time- idk if other letdown responses do too??

Also a gentle reminder that it’s ALWAYS ok to lower the frequency of breastfeeding and combo feed with formula, or stop breastfeeding altogether.

My letdown issues were a different variety (huge oversupply and overactive letdown so Pipsqueak was gulping for air which then switched fairly suddenly around 3.5 months to an undersupply and no response to pumping). We struggled along longer than I wanted to for various reasons that made sense for me but I was so relieved when we started combo feeding at 6 months and were on 100% formula at 7 months. I wish I had made the switch sooner.

Yip. I’m sure by the time she’s a teen, my daughter will have a whole mental laundry list of reasons I suck as a mom, and feeding her 50%+ of formula from day 3 (and 100% by 3.5 months) will not be one of them.

Sounds like there are things to try and possible light at the end of the tunnel if you want to, but not a requirement for the Good Moms Club.

Fifty trillion percent this.

Team 50% formula by Day 3! :raised_hands: I think we stopped breastfeeding around seven months old since my supply (never overly generous to begin with) was decreasing.

Which is to say, +1 on the “if you want to” and “fed is best”. Whatever fed looks like for your situation, awesome.

Chiming in to say I had that with kid #1. Every time I sat down to nurse I went from happy and fine to soooo sad when the milk dropped. It went away after a bit, but was super hard in the thick of it. I hope you find a lot of nearby support and your way through it, whatever that means for you.

Having a day of self-doubt. Is it too early for a feeding schedule? Should I still be feeding him on demand? I even feel anxious asking that question, like I’m going to be shamed for trying a schedule

This is a “totally up to you” thing. But be aware that he may not conform to a schedule at this age. Like there’s nothing wrong with trying it but he may just be not ready for it yet?

The biggest thing is that it probably won’t work well? But you can sometimes like, get them to purposely cluster feed more in the evening to get a longer stretch overnight, or try offering before hunger signals to try and get a nap going, that sort of thing.

Sent a message to the pediatrician to assuage my anxiety. Ugh
